have had meals here since it opened as cafe Dominique. always great food and a good wine list too. located downtown.
We must provide a disclaimer...we prepare Cajun and Creole jambalaya often for our extended family, neighbors and an entire high school faculty, so we have extensive experience with jambalaya of all kinds. We were recommended to the Jambalaya Shoppe and so we tried it. It will be the last time we will go there. The rice was soggy and there was not much aromatics (onions, garlic, etc.) or the Cajun trinity in the dish. The rice itself did not have much seasoning or flavor. The meats we did have in our jambalaya were not plentiful but somewhat scarce. The meats also were not very flavorful. The jambalaya was served warm, barely warmer than room temperature. If you cannot make good jambalaya yourself, or you cannot follow a Zatarain's or Louisiana Fish Fry jambalaya package instructions, then you might like this jambalaya. If possible, get your jambalaya somewhere else or make it yourself.
I had lunch there today, took the day's menu, corn seafood showder, chicken sausage jambalaya, butter beans. The chowder was rich in seafood, particularly crawfish. One of the best chowders I have eaten. The jambalaya was good, too. Pleasant helpful staff. And the price was right.

Stopped in early Friday (5 pm). No problem parking tho place fills up fast. When we left, standing room waiting to be seated. Had a soft shell crab poboy ($17.00)Iâd been wanting and husband had a fried shrimp poboy ($10.00)We split fries($2.00) which worked out great. The Abita Purple Haze beer ($3.50)was good and cold. Both poboys were good but we agreed the bread was not as desirable as a crunchy Leidenheimerâs would have been. Other folks said boiled crawfish were good, running at $7.50 a pound and regular boiled shrimp were $15.00 a pound. The fries we were very thin and had an almost sweet potato fry taste that I wasnât crazy about. Service was good. Iâd go back and try something boiled, but really wanted that soft shell crab poboy!

Drove over to Houma for dinner. The boudin balls were the best we have eaten on the trip!! Recommend. Nice atmosphere, music, narrative and jokes. The gumbo was packed with meat and dark roux, not to my taste. Potato salad was delicious. Catfish with crab atop was very good and the peanut butter pie was excellent and alone was worth the trip. Rating 3 stars for the service, which was atrocious. My husband had to get and chase someone down for crackers, for ketchup and to order dessert. We saw our waitress sitting down eating. Oh well.

as we were doing many earns and ended up near boudreau & thibodeau's we stopped for our evening meal for the day of running around the area ... the parking was easy before the evening rush being it was right before 4pm ... entering we were seated and we chose a booth ... our server Kami M took our drink orders and we asked for a hush puppies appetizer but she told us that they were out of them ... wow how can a kitchen that has one of the best hush puppies so early in the day and when the afternoon rush starts ... we have friends that drive from metairie just for the for the hush puppies with butter ... i had the Etouffee and each spoonful had at least 2 or more crawfish in every spoonful till the last spoon had only 2 ... and that is just why we come here often because the food is good and plentiful and taste like from home
