This is the fastest diner ever and the food is consistently good. We go for breakfast - we have had the occasional lunch ( it's only open until 2pm) but it is our go-to breakfast place. Spouse always has a regular breakfast unless he is in the mood for a country benedict. It is consistent and well done: the deep fried home-fries are awesome so don't go if you are a constant dieter, you will be missing the best part :) I often go for one of the Saturday breakfast specials: a baked or regular fruity french toast with sausage links or patties or an interesting pancake. There is always a novel omelette choice too. You will not get faster breakfast anywhere. The coffee is diner coffee, but bearable, even for fussy coffee folk like us.
Love this little place! They have t-shirts, natural products (soaps, candles, lip balms) and other cool gadgets. You would never suspect it to serve coffee, tea and beer (and a few pastries)! I recently met here for coffee/tea for a business meeting and otherwise had never heard of it. They have a wonderful little menu of signature café specialties.. I ordered an almond milk steamed, grey tea with juniper and sea salt. It was crazy good. This will be my new place whenever I plan to meet with friends to catch up :)

The restaurant uses a third party delivery service called grub hub which I have always had a good experience with. We ordered a crab cake sandwich and a cheese appetizer sampler. I paid ahead of time on a credit card. They called me shortly after and said they were out of crab cakes and I needed to pick something else. The only other thing we wanted at the time was nachos, which was significantly cheaper. I asked if they could refund me the difference and they said "I don't know". They delivered the food and left a handwritten note saying they added the $3 delivery charge (which the website I ordered from has no delivery fee) so it would even out. Food was soggy and cold. Never going back to this place. The third party ordering website gave me credit for the awful experience.

This little café is similar to many other cafes across the country. However, what really made my day here was the authentic hospitality of a true professional hospitality industry employee. I found Sweet Sue's while wandering around the historic shopping district of Troy. The shop itself caught my attention due to it's charming store front. The baked goods looked incredible but I had already had some lunch so I wasn't hungry. However, it was a grey chilly day, and a cup of coffee was required. Beth, the barista served up a cup with the biggest smile ever, she share a little about the neighborhood and really made a wandering traveler feel right at home. Beth made me want to explore Troy even more. I hope her manager will read this and let her know she is a valuable asset to the shop and a great ambassador to this colorful town. The café is tastefully designed and it appears to have a delectable menu. I plan on going back when I am hungry but have no reservations on recommending this café. A happy employee says volumes about what goes on behind the scenes.

Came to the Daily Grind with my brother, sister-in-law and my boyfriend for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the waitstaff. I enjoyed a wonderful French toast, which was served with berries, whipped cream and syrup. Also, I would highly recommend their hot chai lattes, which I had as well. I'll definitely be back to this quaint spot when visiting my brother.

I came here with a co-worker for lunch this week and was blown away! I was a little skeptical about going to a tea house for lunch and canât wait to go back! We sat outside on a beautiful spring day and had a wonderful experience. The food menu is unexpectedly large and awesome! I had a really hard time deciding on what to have because there were so many great choices. I ultimately settled on the afternoon tea option which included a soup, sandwich and desert. It was a ton of food and we both had leftovers to take home. I tried the curry chicken club and it was the best curry chicken that I hav head in a long time!My only issue here at lunch, and it is not really an issue was the amount of time it took to get our food and finish lunch, but that was because we chose the afternoon tea option. Everyone around us did not and was done much sooner. I think that option is designed for you to be able to sit and visit. This is not ideal when you are taking a break from work, but would be great if you are there with friends.Thank you so much for allowing us to serve you, topher2076. Till next time!

located at the historic downtown Troy, right in the first floor of the Cannon Building, once was a jewelry store now converted in a beautiful bistro cafe with outside seating, you can definitely enjoy cocktails with your lunch or mimosas with our weekend
In Albany for a wedding, we went to Troy to visit our alma maters, Russell Sage College and RPI. After a chilly walk around town (my! how things have changed - so many interesting shops, craft and artisan stores and restaurants!) we were in search of a warm lunch. Illium is a wonderful spot! We were greeted warmly and had a nice corner table in the back. The decor is charming - old wooden glass cases that once housed jewelry, murals up above of the rivers and art work all around. We had two orders of the Reuben which was loaded with corned beef and grilled on marble bread. The cole slaw was declared delicious, too. Two of us opted for the soup and half sandwich - one vegetable soup and one delicious roasted red pepper puree. One of us had the turkey sandwich and I had the incredible steak and brie sandwich with horseradish sauce on ciabatta. I am normally not a big beef eater, but the description sounded yummy and it was available for the half sandwich option. Soups and sandwiches were all great choices. The servers were efficient, pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the area. Thank you!
