Kildare (Irish: Cill Dara, meaning "church of the oak") is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. Its population of 8,412 (2011 Census) makes it the eighth largest town in County Kildare and the 55th largest in the state, with a growth rate of 8% since the 2006 census. Although Kildare gives its name to the county, Naas is the county town. The town lies on the R445, some 50 km (31 mi) west of Dublin – near enough for it to have become, despite being a regional centre in its own right, a commuter town for the capital.

Le Pain Quotidien

A triumph of style over substance: hot drinks served in wide bowls without handles; pastries balancing on flat mini artist palettes and an over abundance of ‘vegan’ and ‘organic’ descriptions on the menu. Two soups on offer - vegan onion or vegan butternut squash and sweet corn, neither of which appealed on a dank, wet day. No scones at 2.30pm on a weekday, almond croissants with scant almonds, lacklustre apricot tart and English Breakfast Tea so weak it could have subbed for dishwater. When we asked for cups with handles were were offered cardboard takeaway cups - but at least you could pick them up safely. Only one toilet cubicle downstairs.

Donadea Forest Park is a beautiful destination for all the family to enjoy; walks through the forest, ducks on the lake and a lovely cheerful stop to sit and have a coffee and sandwich or an ice cream. Santa also visits at Christmas!! The cafe seating is all outdoors and there are log burners giving a lovely atmosphere and a little heat on a cold day. There are toys to keep the children happy and there are clean well maintained toilets and baby changing facilities.
