Breakfast
A short walk away from Casa Missy is the amazing Cafe Cito. Awash in cool white and ocean blue this was our perfect breakfast find. Each table is artfully made of wood with glass tops enclosing a wonderland of ocean shells. The decor it beachy and artful. Our waiter and master of ceremonies was the fabulous Zig (Ziggy) He welcomed our party of seven to his family's lovely cafe with amusing stories and incredible breakfast items. I loved the "Savanna". His sister-in-law is a great chef. We later found out Zig is a fine chef himself, who will travel to your home and prepare a repast set for a king. He will set a price with you plus tips. We enjoyed fresh, delicious guacamole and salsa, hordeorves . Mouth watering lobster tails, delicious squash and perfect rice was the main course. A flambed pineapple and ice cream dessert completed the meal. He also makes the best Margarita on the island. The experience was incredible. We never had a meal prepared at our vacation residence before. It smelled so wonderful the other people in our building booked his services. So worth the price! Thank you Zig

It's a mystery to me why I have never stopped into Aluxes before this trip. Perhaps I was labouring under the false impression that it was only a coffee shop with pastries, etc. What an absolute treat it was then, when my cousin suggested that she and her husband, my wife and I try having dinner here last night. From the moment David greeted us with a big smile and a hearty welcome in Spanish and English, we knew we were in for a treat. His energy and enthusiasm for food, made fresh and authentic, was contagious. Previous posters have commented on the guacamole and I have to second their praise because it was made on the spot, en el momento, and just possibly the best guacamole I have ever eaten. And as my wife would say, "we've been around the guac!"Ivan was in charge of the cocktails, which were delicious and cold. We had varying levels of appetite, and my cousin thought she would be comfortable with a soup instead of a full entrée. No problem for David, Who went directly to work and made her a beautiful chicken soup with vegetables and a savoury broth. Her husband selected the chicken roll with jalapeño and pineapple, and he kept commenting how beautifully the fruit complemented the spicy chicken. My wife had his Delectable arrachera fajitas and she was thrilled because the beef was very tender and for once not overly salty as we find much of the arrachera to be. I succumbed to my love for pasta and had the creamy Parmesan spaghetti with mussels and clams. Pasta al dente and perfectly seasoned. We were very full but David convinced us that the night would not be complete without a piece of the frozen Keylime cheesecake and four spoons, and you know, he was right! We can't say enough about our delicious meal here. On Matamoros, just east of Hidalgo. Go and enjoy!

From start to finish, an amazing, authentic experience. This is such a quaint restaurant and not to be missed. From signature Cazuela Isla Mujeres to the fruit plate and potatoes to the superb coffee. This is a must do for those wanting a little more to their morning than the typical breakfast fare.

Everything is homemade...the bread, the jam, and all of the breakfast items. It is a typical healthy, but North American style breakfast. Good coffee! If that's what you have a hankering for, this might be your place.

I'm on a mission to try new restaurants on Isla and this had great reviews so I happened in for great Traditional Eggs Benedict. Served with home fries and salad, the hollandaise was cheesy and creamy and the eggs done perfectly. Comes with oj or coffee, all for $150. I'll be back next trip!

We came here at the recommendation of our concierge and the food was so incredible that we had to come back. The poblano pepper and breakfast quesadilla are both delicious and we are both win agreement that this is some of the best food we have ever had. We will most definitely return to this little gem. An absolute MUST if youâre in Isla Mujeres.
