Esposende (Portuguese pronunciation: [(ɨ)ʃpɔˈzẽd(ɨ)]) is a city and a municipality in Braga District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 34,254, in an area of 95.41 km². The city itself (the parish Esposende, Marinhas e Gandra) had a population of 9,197 in 2001. It gained city status on 2 July 1993. The present Mayor is Fernando Couto Cepa, elected by the Social Democratic Party. The municipal holiday is August 19. It is located on the Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago.

There are many cafes on the beachfront in Esposende, some overlooking the river estuary, others on the sand dunes overlooking the ocean. The one I am particularly fond of is Mar Alto. The cafe sits on the top of the dunes with a large outdoor decked area protected from the northerly winds by glass panels as well as an indoor area with floor to ceiling windows that give an unobstructed view of the beach and the ocean. The beach can be accessed by walkways from the front and back of the cafe, ample car parking in the front.Coffee is good all over Portugal, and Mar Alto is no exception. Snacks are also good, nothing is expensive, the staff are friendly, the service fast. I was staying nearby and walked to the cafe every morning for my âmeia do leite.âWhat a great place.

Si trova circa a metà strada tra la Capela di Sao Sbastiao e la spiaggia è quindi frequentato sia dai pellegrini del vicino Albergue che dai bagnanti. Piatti semplici tradizionali ad un prezzo molto buono. Ambiente asettico e servizio veloce.

Há dias em que um café bem tirado, torradas deliciosas, fofas, em pão excelente preenchem um espaço necessário da alma. A PatrÃcia, depois, sempre com um sorriso, atende-nos, sugerindo outro qualquer tipo de pão saboroso. Vale a pena ao pequeno almoço ou ao lanche.

I went a lot of times to Esposende for kitesurfing at Kook Proof.Vermelhinho was my second home, breakfast, lunches and most important Gin after diner. They're made with so much love, and flavor. I even got one called after me: the Caps Tonic (with kumquats) which is suuuuuper good!! The owner is amazing, so friendly, and fun, and makes you feel right at home!
