Wow! Super size and super tasty with more than reasonable prices. Typically when we stop in a "touristy" town, we expects to get less than memorable meals. We were dead wrong with our stop at the Tallowood Cafe in Dorrigo. It may have been that we were a bit more hungry than usual, having just walked for a couple of hours in the rain forrest near by and that it was a bit cool for us, being in the mid 50's (14C) and we needed a re-fuel. But we were absolutely blown away by the serving portion, the tastes, and the opportunity to simply relax at what appears to be adjacent to the local teen hang-out. My Wife had the Spinach and Cheese Burger (actually thought this would be a beef burger with spinach and cheese), but this was a spinach and cheese patty with carrots, beets, and lettuce on a very nice bun. My Wife was in heaven and the taste, even to me, a meatatarian, was superb. The portion was huge and she could only finish half, which left the rest for a snack about 4 in the afternoon with tea. I had the BBQ Chicken and Bacon Wrap and was darn near gobsmacked when the server brought it out. It was huge. I was expecting something about half the size for the $9.50. In addition to the chicken and bacon, there were sautéed onions, lettuce and tomato, a real taste treat. Filled me to bursting.
An excellent cafe! I stopped here for lunch before visiting Dangar Falls. Delicious food, with the hand cut chips and home made pickles a highlight. And the service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient.

We randomly picked this cafe to have some lunch while passing through Dorrigo. It was excellent, quick friendly service, clean and tidy and food was fresh and tasty. Menu has few options, catering for vegetarians as well. Prices are reasonable.Highly recommend in Dorrigo.Thank you Mal, we are glad you enjoyed your lunch at The Plateau Café, we take much pride in offering good old fashioned home made food, yesteryear décor and friendly service, we hope to see you again if passing through. :)

3.8Morning coffee stop here today in lovely Dorrigo. It was nice sitting outside at the front. Service was efficient. A bit offhand from the older server, warm from the young barista/server. I had a long black which was exceptional. A superbly made coffee. Dark, dense and richly gorgeous.

We ate at Food Angel Cafe while on a day trip to Dorrigo via Bellingen.I had seen the cafe advertised in the Tourist brochure, so headed there for lunch after visiting the Rainforest Centre just outside town. There was plenty to choose from on the menu board and there was a selection of home made cakes in the display cabinet, so we decided to share the gourmet veggie toastie and follow that by sharing the lemon poppyseed cake.We found a great table in the sunshine in the back room and sat and waited for our food to arrive. And waited. And waited.I ended up getting out my pocket noughts and crosses game to play it took that long! Now the place didnât look busy and it was well after the lunch time rush, but it took over 35 minutes for our toastie to arrive and when it did, it wasnât hot but was still warm. But let me say it was absolutely delicious- the pumpkin, pesto, feta, sundried tomato and rocket filling was just beautiful and the two of us wished weâd ordered one each! The cake cake with a generous serve of fresh whipped cream and was very nice as well.Staff were friendly but laid back - country style I guess. So ... if you have time on your side go there. The food is worth the wait.

Within the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre is a cafe called "Canopy Cafe". This cafe is fully wheelchair accessible, including good spacing between tables for sports-style wheelchairs and great views across the rainforest from the windows inside. Seating is also available outside which I recommend for wheelchair users if inside is too crowded. Plus, eating outside you can be amongst the rainforest canopy (as the cafe name suggests) with lots of birds around. It is also wheelchair accessible to enter the cafe from both outside as well as the adjoining gift shop. The food and drinks are great here and breakfast according to the menu at the time is served through to midday. Many great foods and beverages are on the menu, but my favourites are the hot chocolate (on cooler days) and smoothies (on warmer days) along with the Quiche Lorraine with chips and salad and the Orange Almond Cake with poached berries, cream and ice-cream - delicious. You could easily spend a whole day exploring this Centre and the surrounding rainforest, eating breakfast and lunch at the Canopy Cafe.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise this beautiful little cafe is! So tastefully decorated! Unfortunately we were too late for lunch but the coffee was second to none! Not in the âmainâ shopping block but certainly worth the walk to the next block!
