Absolutely fabulous time here with a 5 year old. The wildlife is always impressive and with a 5 year old with me the Canoe Safari and Pond dipping were great fun. Had to prebook as numbers are limited during the pandemic. Felt very safe and it's all outdoors anyway. One way system helped. Great value too. We had a lovely day.

Windmill Animal Farm

Windmill Animal Farm has been the home of the Slinger Family since 1938. We started off as dairy, cattle and sheep farmers and also delivered fresh milk to our local villagers. Then in 1990, whilst on a family holiday in Wales, we visited a farm visitor attraction. We returned home with some great ideas and opened our gates to the public on the 1st August 1992. Now our farm is home to an amazing range of rare breed and exotic farm animals and some of the best indoor and outdoor play areas in Lancashire. Windmill Farm has given us four generations of family farmyard fun and now, we want to share it all with you. Come and experience everyday working life on our farm and watch, feed and touch many of our wonderful animals and their young. We hope to see you all soon.

We made our visit initially to pick the pumpkins which was great fun are reasonably priced and decided to visit the farm too. Picking the pumpkins was really well organised and there were plenty of wheelbarrows for families to use our 7 year old lovedpudhing this and choosing her own pumpkins, the rain was lashing down but that didn’t stop anymore make sure you have your water proofs and wellies ! We then went to the farm which we all enjoyed the animals are very clean and well cared for, there were lots of knowledgeable, helpful staff on hand and lots of places to wash and dry your hands. There are also lots of areas to play which are really well maintained. The indoor play area is really clean and there are lots of places for parents to sit The cafe is lovely and well priced plus the staff were fantastic and friendly The only down side was the rain which the farm can’t help, it would be very easy to spend the entire day here even in bad weather We didn’t try the train but it looked good and we are looking into returning for the Christmas ride with Santa

Last minute birthday alterations for my youngest son due to f*****g COVID ????. So we decided to come here as a family.. And what a brilliant afternoon we had. The owner, Jason was really welcoming and explained everything really easily to my youngest. You may think it’s expensive (£30pp for 30mins), but trust me, it’s the best £30 you’ve spent. The indoor track is really good - it does go outside but when we were there it was shut. I think the outdoor track is only open in the summer. Qualifying laps followed by an actual race!!! It really is good fun! Worth a visit????????

Ormskirk Market

Ormskirk Market is renowned for being one of the UK’s oldest and most traditional outdoor markets. Granted a Royal Charter in 1286 by King Edward I, this popular and well-loved market has been held in Ormskirk ever since. Now hosted every Thursday and Saturday the pedestrianised streets around the famous Clock Tower offer around 100 stalls, attracting a variety of shoppers each market day. Even after all this time Ormskirk Market still retains its historic charm whilst providing something for everyone. With a great range of food stalls showcasing Lancashire’s local food offer you’ll find fresh artisan breads, homemade pies, olives, fine cheeses, and fresh local produce including fish, meat and vegetables and there is often live music and entertainment. You’ll also find a selection of clothing stalls, plants and flowers, cards and stationery, cosmetics, bedding, household goods, hardware and pet supplies. There are also speciality markets & events throughout the year.

As I had not been to Ormskirk for quite a while previously the ground that the market was placed on was being upgraded and was in a mess but the work as now finished and the finished product is amazing all the stalls have returned with some new additions to create a lovely afternoon visit with quite a selection of variety of products and a bakery stall that is worth a visit on its own to purchase some wonderful items especially the pies
