Shikari devi temple is located ni mandi district of Himachal( Bagsaid Valley in the Himalayas) Shikari Devi temple is about 18 Kms from Janjehli and connected by a jeep able Forest road. It is situated at an altitude of 3359 Mtr.,which is approachable from janjheli area .The place can be approached from Karsog which is just 21 Kms from Shikari Devi. On the Shikari peak, there is a roofless temple of Shikari Devi, the Goddess of hunters and this temple is said to be established (Sathapit) by Pandavas. It is said that sage Markanday also meditated at this place for number of years. It has been observed that despite the fact that temple has no roof, no snow is spotted in temple premises during winters when the entire region around this temple is covered upto several feet by snow. Visitors can trek to Chindi, Karsog, Janjehli through different trek routes from Shikari.

Finally got a chance to visit Kamrunag temple with family. The trek is not that tough, only 1-2 points where gradient is bit demanding. Good paved road in most of the way. The lake’s view is satisfying but water level was not much while I visited in June 2019. Good place to consider to spend a day!

Prashar lake winter trekking ❤️ The on-foot excursion to Prashar Lake is among the most popular treks in Himalayas due to its moderate difficulty level and scenery en route. When done in winters, the journey to this about 9000-feet high pond becomes even better as snow dominates the landscape all around. The Prashar Lake winter trek begins from the bus stop in Baggi village, leading you along numerous scissor bends. During the hike, you will be required to scale several ridges and moderately high peaks, from where you will get clear views of the great Himalayan Mountains. Another highlight of the Prashar Lake trek is that it leads you through dense forests of pines and deodars, where you may get a chance to see the regional wildlife. Though the elevation of the lake is just 9000 feet and the difficulty level of the hike is easy, the winter season and snow might pose a bit of a challenge. Pack good-quality woollens, shoes with spikes, sunglasses, sunscreen and walking sticks (if required) for an enjoyable Prashar Lake snow trek.

I along with my brother Shekhar climbed the Hatgad fort during our visit to Saputara last month. It was a thrilling delightful trekking experience. Located just 5 kms before Saputara on the Sahayadri range at an altitude of 3600 feet and rising about 600 feet from the plain below, the rocky fort looks imposing. We walked the ascent to the fort on a tar road for about 800 meters and thereafter a flight of about 200 steps carved out of the rocky mountain took us to the top of the fort through a series of gates. It is believed that this fort was built during the reign of Shivaji in the 17th century and had a strategic importance on the trade route to Gujarat and was used as a watch tower to keep a watch on the activities on the Nasik and Gujarat side of the mountain range. Not much remains of the fort today except for some dilapidated monuments. What is interesting is the presence of several water reservoirs on the top of the floor, the most important ones were called Gangā & Jamuna. We began our ascent at 7 am and were on the top of the fort by 8 am. We spent about 40 mins on the top and it took us 20 mins while descending. There was not a single soul on the fort besides us. The panoramic view of the valleys below was breathtaking. There was a cool breeze blowing and with the clouds hanging low we were literally walking in the clouds !! This definitely is a fort worth climbing for history buffs and for those interested in nature & trekking.
