The Howler Monkey Hotel is located in Cabuya, a few minutes from Montezuma. Each cabin is located around the refreshing pool, just a few metres from the beach. It is walking distance to Cabuya Island, a unique cemetary island. Cabuya has 2 grocery stores and a few restaurants within walking distance. We offer four cabinas with an ocean view, a private bathroom, a private kitchen, fans and nice outdoor dining patios with hammocks. Free wifi, laundry and parking are included. Guests can also use the hotel snorkel gear, kayaks, surfboards and bicycles. You can enjoy your day lounging in your hammock, around the pool or take a short walk through the plants and flowers on the hotel grounds to the beach and beyond.
Magical place to immerse yourself in nature
Reviewed By 439laliWe were immersed in nature during our visit at the magical howlers monkey hotel - (HMH} The end place of 1 month vacation to CR. We planned to stay at HMH for 1 day and extended it to 4 days. Los monos auyadores and capuchins came to visit almost everyday along with iguanas , papagayos, frigates and thousand of pelicans. The host (jim) - a truly Irish man at heart , who fell in love with cabuya about 20 years ago- made his place our home. Nicko is a young Denmark handsome men who came as tourist and then decided to stay and help jim at the hotel for now. He cooked awesome pancakes for breakfast. Not sure about his recipe: a little bit of bananas, yogurt, maybe berries, cinnamon? vanilla? but them were excellent. By the way, I taught him to cook scrambled eggs (my humble contribution). Not to forget federico (el curandero or shaman) who is fixing the place and on his free time collects herbs and seeds from the jungle to make teas and lotions to drink and apply to the skin to cure different illnesses, rashes, and to make you a bit happier. In America is called alternative medicine. Too summarize we had such an amazing time there that we recommend 100 % this place to you only if you love respect nature and you want to share close encounters with animals (as this is their place not ours).

Exactly what Costa Rica should be
Reviewed By RGVDI can't imagine a better place to spend time in than Cabuya -- and in Cabuya Lodge specifically. Our hosts were fluent in English and Spanish and were generous beyond measure. Accommodations were clean, comfortable, and convenient. With their connections to other local businesses, we at the yoga retreat had access to myriad activities and the taxis to take us there. Even if one were to remain in Cabuya and not venture to nearby Montezuma, the Lodge's yoga chalet is magical, the massage therapist is gifted, the surrounding area boasts of a nearby beach for exploration and fine cafès within walking distance. While we were there, proprietors Mandy and Johanne were exceptional hosts, with just the right amount of hands-on attention. Even better -- I know that they are committed to the prosperity of local families and they reinvest in the community. Since Cabuya is in the Nicoya Peninsula (a Blue Zone!) the food and its service, really, was a highlight for me. The choices of simple, delicious, local dishes were meaningful. I would return just to have another great meal.

Blissful Stay at the Aves Hotel
Reviewed By 502donsWe stayed one night at the Aves Hotel, after a long day that began in San Jose, and included the ferry from Puntarenas. When we arrived, the first thing that struck us was how lush the vegetation was on site. It really stuck out, give the overall arid look of Montezuma at the end of March. Once we were escorted to our room, we have other treats for our senses. The sight of the pool off our ample balcony, and the sound of the howler monkeys in the nearby jungle helped us relax after the long travel day. The room(s) were great, and the bed was super comfortable. After a peaceful night’s rest, we enjoyed a morning swim and breakfast on the balcony. Unfortunately, we had to get back on the road. It would have been easy to kick back for another day at the Aves!

The Jodokus Inn. A small Family Guesthouse,Hotel,Vacation rental on a private gated property. On 1.5 hec of land,in the hills of Montezuma. close to the waterfall, --3-- km from Montezuma center.and beaches. With total of 6 rooms and 4 to rent, 2 rooms with 4 doubles,shared bathroom.1 with a double and 1 with 2 single beds and private bathrooms.`7 beds and 12 persons Maximum .With a lush jungle. Right there!! in the backyard ,with a natural pool, built in dry creek summer season only,(from Dec till April) , and with amazing wildlife. maintained gardens,all kinds of local fruit trees waiting for you to try?? Ocean views, and coastline views. Hearing the waves break...very peaceful... and only.. 5 min to center of Montezuma, by Car,Quad.Shuttle, Taxi.or a lift from me. For your Busstation,Taxiboat to Jaco. Sat morning Organicmarket,Tours,Restaurants,Streetvibes,Yoga/Wellness Classes even in the house ----check out Yoga video made on side last year--- ,Beaches,Horse riding tours and much more!!Free pick up..... Upon arrival from Montezuma,or Cobano.till 6 pm(arrival time)-30 min by car to get to Santa Theresa/Mal pais from jodokuss inn.(with own transport)-20 min with rented quad.And a host/caretaker that helps with anything,to let you have a Perfect stay...Hope to see you soon...At Jodokus Inn.

Reviewed By madwindGreat house with lush green gardens and nice view. Really nice host! Tasty fruit at breakfast. Amazing birdwatching & monkeys interaction in the surroundings of the house! It is 30 minutes (steep) walking from the center of Montezuma but we really enjoy the walks!

Reviewed By MariaM12599Una estadía genial, confortable con todo lo necesario en la habitacion, honestamente llenó mis espectativas por lo pagado, nosotros éramos 4 viajando dormimos comodamente y disfrutamos mucho del lugar. Buen servicio al cliente :) Piscina y jardines en buen estado, la cocina compartida fue un plus cuando viajas por varios dias. Si volviera por el área sin duda me alojaría nuevamente!
