The largest city in China is also its most cosmopolitan, offering visitors a chance to experience the past, present, and future all at once. The Huangpu River splits Shanghai into two districts: Pudong and Puxi. The Pudong skyline looks like it was ripped from the Jetsons, with the bulbous Oriental Pearl TV and Radio Tower looking a bit like a two headed lollipop. On the Puxi side, you can walk the Bund riverside district to get a taste of old Shanghai.

The opening of Bar Rouge in 2004 atop Bund 18 announced a new era in Shanghai nightlife. Rapidly becoming the city’s go-to venue offering a unique combination of high style and unbeatable Shanghai skyline views from its rooftop terrace – Sexy crowds, international DJs, fantastic theme parties, and unique Champagne celebration rituals, contribute to its amazing ambiance night after night, becoming an icon of Shanghai’s glamorous nightlife. The club has hosted awe-inspiring performances from top DJs such as: David Guetta, Bob Sinclar, Dennis Ferrer and Claptone, to name just a few. The latest renovation at the beginning of 2019 provides an evolved experience upon setting foot on to its new star-dazzled long entrance runway; a rectangular island bar centerpiece takes pride of place within the interior space, with the introduction of unrivalled interplay between club lights, sound system, 10 LED screens and a sweeping dance floor.
Upstairs with a great roof terrace overlooking the river and the amazing lights on the tall buildings of Shanghai. The bar (Club) is for the ever so trendy and there were a lot of people taking pictures and a large number of westerners. We were lucky with the weather as it was a warm dry evening and we were n a large terrace with fantastic views - the tables and seating area all get booked but when empty you can get close to the edge for photos. Drinks are not horrendously expensive but certainly not the cheapest. Great experience

Very classic kind of atmosphere that is a walk back to Old Shanghai in the 1920s. The decor, band and songs made in so fun. Its first world prices though. I spent about 500rmb on a bottle of wine and enjoyed myself. Not unreasonable. Reserve in advance or through hotel if you are staying there. Music purists please note that they are not playing the New York or Bossa Nova kind of jazz. It's a band playing older Chinese songs - some from the 1930s and up to the Teresa Teng era. Acoustics were so so too, and the mic went out twice for split seconds. But it strangely added to the vibe of the old days. Great fun!
