La Palma is a pristine paradise, set against a backdrop of volcanic landscape. Perhaps the best way to experience La Palma’s rugged beauty is a hike through the Caldera de Taburiente National Park or the narrow gorges of Los Tilos. The cool waters of natural swimming hole Charco Azul beckon on a steamy day. The dark sands of Playa Nueva are great for sunbathing and cat naps.

Emblematic house in the historic center of Santa Cruz de la Palma. Having three floors and located on the beach, it offers the guest a wonderful view of the beach and harbour , with the comfort of its interior of brown wood and pink marble. With everything at hand to enjoy your stay in Santa Cruz and from where you visit the corners of our beautiful island.

This traditional distillery is family owned to the fourth generation and has roots going back to Cuba and the distilleries there. They produce a great range of rum, some very old, I was allowed to see their separate storage and aging deposit with great racks up to the ceiling stacked with barrels full of rum all clearly dated and some marked as "reserva" or "gran reserva". I was shown round by José hijo (the son of the current owner, José padre, now retired) I was most interested to see the still, a very old copper "alambique" similar to the old stills used for whisky in Scotland. The sugar cane (All grown on the island) is fed into a crusher to extract all the juice which is then sent to the still. All their rum is made from local sugar cane unlike dark rum which is often made from molasses. In the attached shop area you can taste the products (and buy!!) which range from young white rum to a full range of golden rum from young to grand reserve, they also have rum flavoured with honey, caramel etc We had my sister in law from Finland with us and she also enjoyed the visit and thought it was very good and interesting to learn all about it.
