For better or worse, it's what you expect of an Irish pub. Dark, with lots of green. Menu consisting of lots of fried apps and burgers- what we had was good, not great. Respectable selection of beers but again, nothing amazing. The night we visited, the bartender was performing double duty as part of the wait staff. You could do better while in the area, and you could do worse.

Brookdale Tavern offers full menu and pub fare, along with private party spaces and outside catering
We ate at this restaurant as part of Bloomfield's Restaurant Week, though we did not choose meals from their special menu for the event. I had a thin crust pizza with mushrooms, which was very good. My husband choose shrimp francese over linguini, which he enjoyed. There were several different beers on tap. Prices were fair and service was good. We ate at the tables outside and could faintly hear the concert at nearby Brookdale Park.

We were visiting friends in Hoboken and they took us here for dinner. Once we got thru the traffic, we relaxed.Hubby and I had the seafood pasta: YUM.......Another had the meatloaf.....and another had the eggplant rollatini.Desserts followed: cinnamon ice cream.............lava cake and ice cream...............and cheesecake.Service attentive.......nice atmosphere................If we lived close, we'd be a regular. Friends paid the bill....and we went home with "doggie bags."

The good: 3 couples and everyone liked their food, but for some reason we expected more. Service was very good but there was an annoying little error. Restaurant was trendy but also very noisy. Prices were a little higher than comparable venues. Overall, it was a very good restaurant but but I don't think we will be going back

First, parking. My wife and I searched in vain for a street parking place in front of, side streets, or rear of this pub. Maybe the third time around the block, my wife spied the Egan parking lot behind the pub! It's big, but the couple we met also missed it. The pub is excellent. Excellent food, extensive beer list. My wife is vegetarian, and there were a number of choices for her. We recommend the "Irish Toasties" (small toasted sandwiches with tomato, cheese, mushrooms and bacon). The Shepherd's Pie (here "Cottage Pie") was well done with small chunks of tender beef. My wife's salad topped with salmon she described as perfectly done and delicious. The wife of the couple we met complained of a cold. She had a Hot Toddy, and later turned to her husband and said, "Honey, order me another one of those. It's really helped!" We met for lunch on.a Saturday to avoid night driving, and stayed for three hours -- an excellent time.

Give me a relaxed welcoming environment serving great food over a uptight fancy pants restaurant serving overpriced food every time. Star Pizzeria did not disappoint. Here I will say that it's everything that makes it great. The chill bar with lots of tables, tv's, locals, cheap beer, and good food. We ordered a plain and pepporni pizza. The pizza was crispy, cheesy, and tasty. It was good in a thin crust bar style pizza is good. Would I go back just for the pizza? Probably not but if someone wants good food, cheap drinks, and a casual atmosphere. Star Tavern is a great spot.
