Sandown is a seaside resort town and civil parish on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, England, which neighbours the town of Shanklin to the south, with the village of Lake in between the two settlements. Sandown Bay is the name of the bay off the English Channel which both towns share, and it is notable for its long stretch of easily accessible golden sandy beach. It is the site of the lost Sandown Castle. Whilst undergoing construction, this was attacked by a French force which had fought its way over Culver Down from Whitecliff Bay, resulting in the French being repulsed. It was built too far into the sea and constantly suffered erosion, until now reduced to a pile of rocks. Later forts in the town include the Diamond Fort (named after its plan), built inshore to replace the castle and which fought off a minor attack from privateers (probably French) in 1788, and the present "Granite Fort" at Yaverland, which is now the zoo. Together with Shanklin, Sandown forms a built up area of 21,374 inhabitants.

Service was pleasant and very helpful. Although not that busy the first four got served much quicker than the other four in our party. Which dropped them a star. The food was nicely cooked and good quality The toilets downstairs were lovely and clean which is not always the case in an Indian restaurant.

Out with family last night and had a superb meal best we've tasted in a long time. Staff were great and very accommodating to my gluten free needs. Great taste, apply portion size and very friendly. Would highly recommend

I am a tad obsessed with Indian food (beats chips any day !!!), and we found this restaurant to have an exceptionally varied menu, so we were both able to stray off the beaten track !!Absolutely lovely, flavoursome food, quite swiftly served despite their being very busy.Car parking down the road is £1 after 6pm.No dessert menu - who needs it anyway ?Well done team, we really enjoyed both visits !

Awful! The most stingy buffet I've ever seen.No desert and only boney chicken wings and onion bhaji for starter. Main courses were all chicken and mediocre at best. The manager was very rude and full of bad attitude for some reason too!!AVOID!!

Had a meal in this restaurant whilst in Shanklin last week. I had the Mussels with ginger and lemongrass soup for starter. The rest of the meal was good but the soup was spectacular. The first sip literally took my breath away because it went down the wrong way. But after I had recovered it proved to be delicious. Worth the visit just for the soup.

Have visited here several times before while in Shanklin and have had really great meals. This visit however was a slight disappointment with the stir fried vegetables raw and the chicken with cashew nuts a touch too sweet for our taste. The beef Mussaman curry however was fabulous as were the chicken satay and ribs starters. We still enjoyed the meal, and the service as always was friendly and polite. Same good value as previous. Would still recommend this place and will visit again.

A jazz cafe & vegan tapas bar with regular live music set in the courtyard of the picturesque and historic Staplehurst Grange.
We were at Django's for the music, wondering whether the long drive into the countryside would be worth it. Any fears were soon dispelled by the attractive setting, lovely buildings, and friendly welcome. I only had a piece of cake, but it was delicious. As delicious as the music, in fact, but Paul Armfield, like Django's, is well worth finding.
