We had stirred fried vegetables which was quite salty may be because of the black bean sauce and we also had sweet & sour shrimps which were quite good. The restaurant specializes in buffet lunch & dinner although they do have a menu as well. Prices were not bad. The restaurant is big with good decor & friendly staff. If u have to have Chinese Food then give it a try.

Lucky Star Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant that aims to provide quality-fresh food and great service. We offer buffet 7 nights a week from 4:30 - 8, and a great family dinner-like atmosphere when dining at our restaurant.
Their buffet is shameful. $16 per person gets you dried fried rice, over cooked vegetables and a server's lousy attitude. When we asked if they can bring out fresh buffet items, they answered with.... we don't want to waste any more food. I wouldn't come here ever again. Try the all you can eat sushi a few streets down, at least they are friendlier and food is cooked fresh.

Our group of eight arrived for our reservation on what seemed to be a relatively slow Saturday night. Only one other table occupied and some sporadic pick up traffic. Our server had some difficulty understanding our orders and could only take down the "numbers" from the menu. She could not answer any questions about the menu or food. It seemed to take awhile to get the drinks served and order taken, then the food came out in decent time. My food was average at best and could have been hotter and had a little more taste to it. I won't be in a hurry to return.

Stopped here after visiting the railway museum. The young lady told me that the place just reopened after a renovation yesterday and the restaurant has been renamed Sushi Wood. I walked in and was a bit surprised at the lovely cherry blossom tree decor. My Rainbow Roll was delicious.

We've been going to Nikko forever, seriously have seen several managers go through but the feel stay the same. The staff are often dismissive or have poor English, but they do their best to be friendly and keep up with the business. For the buffet prices you get an AMAZING deal though the food is sometimes mediocre. We will continue to return, and I'm sure others will too.

Continuing our BC Interior tour, from our previous research, we found out that the Chef at Family Thai has many many years of culinary experience and also worked in many very popular Thai Restaurants in Vancouver before moving to Cranbrook and opening his very own.Run by the Chef and his family, the restaurant is situated on the busy Cranbrook Street, parking spots are plentiful during our dinner ( 7ish on a Tuesday night ), but I am guessing that it will get busy during weekends!Since we saw the dishes around us are all fairly well sized, we decided to order only 2 dishes:Pad Kee-Mao with Prawns ( Drunken Noodes ):I really like Chef's version here, the noodles are stir-fried with a lot of wok-hei ( the charred flavour you can only get from having high heat & skillful wok techniques ) going on which makes the noodles extra al dente and at the same time soaked up all the seasonings & spices.Drunken Noodles are supposed to be spicy to be authentic, so I am glad to taste all the extra garlic, fresh chilli, Thai Basil in the dish!Warning: If you cannot handle Thai Spiciness make sure you mention it to the server!!Pad Prik King (Thai Red Curry stir-fry Green Beans with Chicken):Outstanding creation from Chef!!This dish will make you eat a lot of rice, and you will still want more! The balance of all the spices in the Thai Red Curry is the soul of this amazing dish. You can choose your protein and as you can see we picked Chicken. The tender slices of Breast Meat was not dry at all, in fact they were extra moist and also flavourful. The opposing texture of the chicken and the crunchy green beans made a perfect match! All in all, this is truly a great addition to the culinary scene for Cranbrook, as one of the Best Thai Chefs has chosen this friendly and amazing town to call home!

Had dinner here this past summer (July) and would really recommend the place. Lovely and helpful staff, very pleasant decor with table setup that offers some privacy, and more importantly delicious food. The portions were rather big, the selection was outstanding, including many vegetarian options. Really enjoyed our food and the whole evening here!
