A fairly indifferent welcome, the food took ages, even though there was only one other occupied table (though a few take-aways) and it was uninspiring when it arrived, with one dish cold. It left such a small impression that none of us can remember what we had.

My previous experience of an Asian restaurant in France was one from either Soissons or Compiegne, can't remember which but I do remember the very best Chinese food I have ever eaten so it was with huge expectations that I booked for our family of 3 with wheelchair for this place.I was ready to be wowed with fantastic flavours and hopefully something my little lad would eat who is very fussy when it comes to food.We arrived a little early but were shown to our table, presented with our menus and a drinks order taken. I prefer our French menus to be in French but if you're French isn't great, you may struggle as English I guess is the owner's 3rd language after Vietmanese and French. We ordered Nems (Spring Rolls) for my Wife for a starter and I had the Assiette de Vapeur (Steamed Wantons) and both were delicious. We were shown how to roll the Nems in the lettuce leaves before dipping thm in the "sauce" which seemed to be just water with some finely chopped chillies as there was little taste. We also ordered some Prawn Crackers for my Son which he enjoyed despite some being a little over cooked and brown rather than white. After quite a long time, our Vietmanese BBQ arrived which was a portable gas stove with a metal plate on it on which we were to cook our marinated Beef slices. This came with fine noodles and some bean sprouts on the BBQ swimming in the oil. The marinade was also very oily. The Beef was of excellent quality but the marinade did not add much more than a bit of lemongrass flavour to the proceedings. The noodles had no taste at all. It was a "different" experience for us which we enjoyed but it seemed expensive for what it was, lacked in taste as it needed a good sauce to give it some punch. It was also very oily, clean oil but oily not the less. There was nothing ont he menu for my little lad and I asked if he could just have some plain chicken cooked. I had originally asked for these to be battered but they could not or would not do this. His thin strips of cooked oily chicken arrived and he did not like them. He also did not like the Rice. We ate them and they were OK but nothing special. At least they tried for us.So, we asked for the Bill which came to nearly 90 Euros including a coke, a badoit and a half bottle of Buzet. We paid and left and had a coffee & ice-cream elsewhere. This was a real shame as the husband and wife team were lovely, it is a homely little place but we could have got so much more for our money elsewhere. We were glad we went and the other reviewers obviously like the place so maybe it was just my fantastic memories of elsewhere that set my expectations levels far too high for what was possible. Also, maybe Vietnamese cuisine is much more different to Chinese than I was expecting too. There was a kids option on the menu but wasn't inspiring and certainly not what my little lad would have wanted. I was hoping for ribs or satay sticks etc to be there as he may have tried those but there was nothing like that.Would I reccommend? Yes, I think I would for the experience and the lovely people but would I return? probably not unless the menu changed quite a bit.Sorry, I was hoping I could say such positive things about this place.

We offer an international cuisine based on fresh products with a short menu in a bistro style and cozy.
Visited L'hémisphère on several occasions during our recent holiday to Bénodet and the place never fails to disappoint.Although the menu is small with choice of only 5/6 dishes per course, they are all perfectly cooked (unless it's the ceviche ) and bursting with flavour.Extensive choice of wines on the boards along with an "expensive options" board. As the menus are on chalk boards only, allergy sufferers need to take extra care to inform staff, also some dishes which you think would be OK, are not. For example, the ceviche of dorade is basically raw fish, served with some pomegranate seeds.. However it was drizzled with Sesame oil. Overall well worth a visit and would advise booking.
