While attending the fre AAA Dream Destinations Fall Travel Show we got our morning free lift ticket passes worth $189, attended the booths, then scooted over to West Springfield for a bite to eat. Many bites to eat. Many themes of food, from seafood to Chinese and American. The roast beef was the best. There really were too many things to choose from. Except for the pudding that I got with my meal, I didn't even get dessert! The ladies got Hibachi where you chose the food and they cooked it for you. I had all varieties of food and was stuffed. The buffet ranged in price from $12 lunches on weekdays to under $15 for Sunday meals and was well worth it. The food was fresh and full. The waitress brought me a steak knife as I was cutting my beef with a spoon, but it was working! We went back over to MGM and got $246 worth of free ski passes for the 1pm afternoon entrance gift.

We made reservations for the Hibachi Table and came early (6:15 pm) on a Sunday night. We were seated right away. We enjoyed the chef's cooking performance with the juggling of the eggs, the fire, the onion volcano, the "squirting of sake" and the pitching of food into the patron's mouths (with their permission.) The menu was standard of soup, salad, fried rice, vegetables and a choice of a main dish - vegetables, chicken, calamari, shrimp, swordfish, salmon, steak, scallops, lobster tail or a combination of the above. There are different prices for the different selections. While we did not have any children in our party, the most fun was watching the children at other tables enjoy themselves. The food was tasty. I asked for less salt and soy sauce and the chef accommodated me. They even offered to cook my food separately in the kitchen but that was not necessary. My favorite dessert is the fried bananas. There is regular seating as well and an extensive menu of sushi and Asian cuisine. When we got there early, the sound level was low enough for conversation. Of course, we will return.

Have eaten here a few times when I visit family in the area. Very high quality food, cooked fresh at reasonable prices with generous portions. We always end up with a take out bag of leftovers. The restaurant is clean and the staff attentive. Typical menu for Chinese food but lots to choose from. We had the chance to meet the owner and we complimented the quality of the food. She said some dishes take longer because everything is cooked fresh and to order. Try the chicken teriyaki, it's the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommended and always worth a visit when in the area. If you want typical "fast food" type Chinese then go to the over rated Hu Ke Lau down the road, but if you want high quality then eat here.

My husband and I've been going to the Holyoke Mall for our entire lives, but mostly think the mall is rather dumpy. Sumo has changed the game in the mall! The service was wonderful. Amber was a very attentive server. She gave us some recommendations as the menu is extensive and we were a little overwhelmed. The prices are as you'd expect for sushi. Plain old rolls are between $5 and $9.50. The fanciest roll we ordered which had lobster, mango, and avocado (and more) was about $15. Everything tasted amazing. We got a large sampler appetizer, iced teas, and five sushi rolls for about $70. I will absolutely be going back for more.

I ate there recently and had the sweet and sour combo dinner. I will say the place is hard to find but the positive it is a very clean place and well kept unlike many Chinese restaurants I have seen and been. My meal was just OK. Egg roll was standard frozen Chinese restaurant fare. The sweet and sour chicken sauce was good but the chicken looked like state fair corn dogs. They batter was extremelly thick on the chicken. I prefer it light. It was OK tasting but over battered. I am not sure if I will go back as I like my Chinese food less frozen and more fresh. The fried rice was very good though.

Almost every American town has one (or more) long strips of dreary peripheral highway lined with car dealerships, modest motels, strip malls and one and two story generic businesses, including plenty of chain restaurants. While they look mostly the same, if you are lucky, there might be a couple of scrappy local dining establishments, sometimes ethnic, that break the mold. Shallot fits into that category, a simple Thai restaurant, perhaps the only one in Greater Springfield. We have been to a number of more elaborate Thai establishments in tonier neighborhoods or big cities. Here, the decor is minimalist, but bright and clean. Kudos for playing tasteful classical music in the background. For a first time, we tried their pot stickers, Pad Thai, Sweet and Sour Chicken and a few desserts. A suspiciously inexpensive California Chardonnay proved quite decent. We were the first of 8 customers early on a Wednesday evening. Our waitress was graceful and efficient. The food came out quite quickly, but the ingredients tasted fresh and well prepared. We are ready to go back and try their Spring Rolls, Satay and Curries.

And I very glad I went. The food was very fresh and very tasty. I ordered "Stone Pot Bibim-Bap"with chicken and spicey pork. It has rice, vegetables, chicken, pork and an egg on top. It was alot and it was very good. They also give you 8 small appetizers that were very good. The service was outstanding and the restaurant was very clean. I will definitely return.Thank you
