Built in the early 7th century in honour of the nun Hripsime, this church is a magnificent example of Armenian churches The nun's mausoleum is in a small room below the altar. There is a bell tower added in the eighteenth century, but apart from that, the church is in the same state as when it was built. Constructed of tuff stone, the church shines in the sunshine. There are several steps up to reach the church. There is a small souvenir shop at the base of the steps, to the left.

A small yet beautiful square, very busy with people and cars and full of sculpture and culture. you would enjoy taking selfies in front of the fountain and enjoy seeing the giant chess board and pieces.

Amazing sight, we're totally alone there when visiting. In the end of April still about a metre of snow, makes one think about the travelers visiting here 700 years ago during the height of winter after being on the road for months. Unmissable if passing this mountain pass
