Discover Restaurants offering the best American food in Stavanger, Western Norway, Norway. With about 120,000 people, Stavanger is Norway’s fourth-largest city and a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history stretches back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a tranquil coastal market town and then later an important fishing port. It was a Saturday night and we wanted to try a new restaurant. We heard good things about The Kitchen & Table in Madla located in the new Clarion hotel. I looked online to see their menu. I found 3 different menus and wasn't sure which was which. There was a pdf 'middag' menu that says "ser var kveldsmeny her". That menu looked good and that is why we chose to go there. When we got there, we were given a completely different menu and it was disappointing. I even asked if it was the lunch menu. I told the waiter about the menu I saw on their website and he told me that the receptionist must have forgotten to take that off. So, we were stuck with the 'lunch-ish menu). There was not much on it. There might have been 3 main course choices, but I can only remember 2 (one being a hamburger). The only thing that looked like a dinner meal was the steak (entrecote). It only comes with Bearnaise sauce.. which I do not like. So they offered an onion sauce.. there were no onions in it, it was just brown sauce and tasted just like the kind we make from the packet. There should have been a balsamic braised onion, but we never seen it. We ordered the other kind of potatoes with the meal, rather than the french fries (only because we wanted a decent dinner). We ended up ordering the fries... the potatoes appeared to be par boiled at some time previous and then fried up for the order, however, they were swimming in grease (oil??). very inedible. The steak was thin with much fat and tasteless. I am not a big eater, but I was hungry. So I asked for the side salad. It should have had a mustard vinaigrette dressing as per the menu, but they only put oil in it.... again tasteless and disappointing. We were told that the cooks were in training.... we were the guinea pigs. The fries were good, as well as the corn bread, but that was not a dinner. They knew of our disappointment, but did not offer any discount. If this is anything like the rest of the year..... I pass.Hi Wendy, Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry that your experience was unsatisfactory. During the summer months we usually have a smaller menu then our regular menu and this should offcourse had been updaten on our website. Your experience of both the food and service at Kitchen & Table Madla was not at our usual level and for that we apologize. We would love for you to experience our restaurant at our best so please contact me at [email protected] regardsAnne Haugstad

After a survey of the places on the harbour this is likely the nicest but the service is slllooooowww. Nice variety of local beers on tap. Great patio with heaters under the tables with blankets for those who feel the Norwegian damp chill. Can only comment on the onion rings in the food category. They are good but a very small serving.Great view inside and out

The place is in an excellent location, nice people, good service and a huge place to play darts, shuffleboard and billiard. The atmosphere was good and we had a good time there. I recommend it!

Went here with a friend during our 5 day stay in stavanger. Loved the atmosphere and the burger selections was excellent - they even have a vegan burger which was delicious. My friend ordered the chicken burger and Parmesan fries and loved it as well (pictured below) Prices were reasonable for Norway and the service was excellent. My friends meal came out a bit later than mine (maybe 3 minutes after) and they gave us free onion rings to apologise. We were very impressed especially since you have to at the bar and we ordered seperately. They also serve Local beer for one of the lowest cost pints I had seen all week. Definitely recommend!!

Company dinner. Waiter not patiente enough, should always expect someone being smart.Regarding the food that was not what you expect for the price, Stavanger has a lot of other places with better value.Vegetables was overcooked and almost soggy.Would compare dinner like dinner at Egon in Stavanger (not compliment)

Stylish Burger joint at the down-town area in Stavanger. Laid back atmosphere, fantastic burgers and lively bar, located in a reconstructed wooden house from the early 1860`s. Kitchen closes one hour before the restaurant does.
Based on all your recommendations this was my first stop in Stavanger. I had the Blamandag burger which was amazing. I love blue cheese and it was loaded. I tried the onion rings on the recommendation of the bartender. I wish i had gone for the truffle fries instead. Onion rings were simple battered onions with not much seasoning. Atmosphere was great on the main floor as a pub. More family dining on second floor. Donât drink too much beer or you have to make the trip to the third floor bathrooms. Burger, beer and onion rings runs around $60. Canadian so for casual food it is pricey but everything seems to be a bit pricey in Norway. Thank you very much for both your visit and your valuable feedback, Susan! We really appreciate it! So happy to hear you liked your BlÃ¥mandag. Welcome back to try our truffle fries!Best regards from Kristine in Døgnvill
