The misty hills, lush teakwood and sandalwood forests, and acres of tea and coffee plantations of Kodagu are, in a word, stunning. Also known as Coorg and dubbed "The Scotland of India," Kodagu is a postcard-perfect region of scattered villages and hamlets, which are the epitome of old-world charm. Kodagu is ideal for outdoor activities such as trekking, angling and white-water rafting, and major festivals like Keil Poldu (worship of weapons), Cauvery Shankaramana (return of the river goddess) and the Huttari (harvest) festival are a huge draw.

Stayed 4 nights and 5 days. The property is gorgeous - lush green with rustic cottages and beautiful views. The included activities, restaurants and spots are enough to keep you occupied. Had a great time - our host Bhagyashree was excellent and catered to any of our needs. The bird watching session from Mohan was interesting as well. The location dinner on Tuesday was amazing. I heard it’s scheduled on Tuesday and Saturday if the weather allows it. Peppercorn restaurant’s dinner ambiance was great too.

Located in Madikeri Taluk, The Tamara Coorg has been conceptualized as a hymn to the beauty of the Western Ghats. Revealed to the world in 2012, The Resort presides over an estate of 184 acres producing Coffee, Cardamom, Pepper, and mixed woodlands on the ragged slopes of an east facing hill. The breathtaking ambiance has been conceptualized as aesthetic, eco-friendly compliments to the natural environment, adding superb luxuries to create an experiential getaway.
The Tamara, Coorg is a little paradise nestled in the misty hills of Madikeri. We stayed here for three nights and about 2.5 days (early May 2022) and wished we never had to leave. This is a beautiful Balinese styled resort, completely in harmony with its natural environment, where one wakes up to morning dew, misty hills, the twittering of birds and the sweet scent of crisp fresh air. The Chalet style rooms on stilts with luxurious large windows are a delight. Enjoyed the in-house aromatic organic toiletries, especially the handsoap! Foodies looking to savour the local cuisine are in for a treat as the buffets include a fabulous range of South Indian and Coorgi cuisine. The mutton curries were incredible! The staff at The Tamara is what made our trip truly special. Sonam at Reception, our guides Ashwaith and Madan, everyone was involved in making The Tamara an unforgettable experience.

Kadkani Resort is what you thought of - waiting with its fairy tale appeal, resplendent with glory of Coorg and enhanced with luxury and comforts that we have put together.
This resort is a well-maintained property, somewhat in the middle of a jungle surrounded by coffee plantations with old-style cottages but with all modern amenities. Even though this place is remote, cabs are easily available at an hours' notice. Rooms are neat, spacious and well maintained. The food may seem slightly limited in options to some folks but we found it ample. It is very delicious and light on the stomach. Gave full marks to the Chef and his team. Children and adults all enjoyed the swimming pool and the other activities like Zipline, pedal boat etc. This is a good place for a quick, short and quiet getaway. Since this is a jungle resort, there were a couple of small hiccups during our stay and we gave feedback to rectify certain minor shortcomings but overall, the staff is very friendly and always ready to help. In particular for us, Shashi one of their Sales Reps was always ready to sort out even the tiniest of problems. I would say Kudos to Shahsi and the rest of the Kadkani team for an excellent and hassle-free stay for me and my family.

Established in 1999, Waterwoods was the first private lodge at Nagarhole National Park. Our boutique wildlife lodge has an exclusive access of the Kabini Backwaters. Located between two famous Tiger Reserves (Nagarhole and Bandipur), the lodge enjoys a panoramic view of mist-clad blue skies and the Brahmagiri mountain range in the background. The recently renovated wildlife Lodge enjoys an infinity ozone swimming pool, water front dining deck, an upgraded kitchen, a spa and an indoor conference facility. The rooms are designed to bring the views of Kabini into your private setting along with the freshness of the cool oxygen-rich Kabini winds coming in from the Nilgiri biosphere. We welcome you to stay at Waterwoods Lodge, Kabini and experience #LifeUninhibited. Awareded "Best wildlife Resort and Lodge", India Travel Awards 2017.
Quiet place with wonderful view of the Kabini backwaters albeit a little expensive. The resort is located very close to the place from where the safaris are supposed to be taken from. Everything about the place is great with the staff(Kumar, Gopal, Naganna) being exceptional. And yeah, the bonfire was amazing. No complaints about the food, but could be better.

I am visiting JLR Kabini for last 10-12 years when it was 'Jungle Lodge' in true sense with 8-12 accommodations. Trust me, despite of so many premium resorts mushrooming in this area, JLR remains a cut-above-all! It retains the feel of a wildlife resort with abundance of exploration for a nature enthusiasts from river banks to green patch in its property. A sit-out in the cottage itself is relaxing with all modern amenities and courteous staff at your service. Given the highest priced JLR property, it offers the best food, drinks and services among all its properties spread across jungle trails in Karnataka. Rooms are clean and spacious, though you can't escape insects and flying bugs if you keep the doors/ windows open to enjoy fresh air (it's part of natural living). Though, Kabini jungle safari is hugely restricted and deteriorated over a period of time, property makes up for the loss. JLR has highest number of vehicles permitted in tiger reserve and employs well-informed drivers as guide. Food spread is good and tasty with good mix of local and foreign cuisines. Overall, a great place to relax and enjoy nature!

Silence, brilliant sunrise and bird sounds, view of water from all sides and tastefully done villas are the hallmark of Red Earth. Great food and very personal and warm hospitality are its strength. Forests in close proximity with good sighting of wildlife. Villages are quaint and reminds one of rural India of the past.
Red Earth makes you feel you are a part of nature. Someone commented that the sheer patience to build something like this over the years is commendable. I couldn’t agree more. The hospitality is beyond belief. The food is the Highlight of the place, never thought could get such lavish spread and each dish being so sumptuous. It has tow Rajas , one who makes the bar go alive, and another who serves you with a smile. Kudos ! Sustainability being so luxurious - never seen. Coming back again soon ! And thanks to Aditya for curating the property as an experience ! MUST COME HERE

The forest view from deck and balcony is icing in the cake.
We stayed at Kaav for the second time last week. Since we were not able to visit the Nagarhole Forest for the last two years because of Covid. Our first stay here in Kaav had been very enjoyable and this time too it was really wonderful. Its a small property with just six rooms, so its quiet and peaceful disturbed only by the sounds of the jungle that it abuts. Its green and well maintained. The staff are excellent. Food is also very good and one must compliment the chef for such well chosen menus. Divya was very helpful. It was Sujith, the naturalist on the property who accompanies you on the visit to the forests, who really made our stay. He is knowledgeable about the jungle, has excellent spotting skills, knows animal behavior and is persevering in ensuring one has a really exciting jungle safari. He also conducts a Tiny safari within the property to acquaint guests with different varieties of spiders. This was quite unique and interesting. Would strongly recommend Kaav to those visiting Nagarhole Forest. Or even if one is not visiting the forest it is a lovely place to relax in.
