Built on the road to St Julien Beychevelle, The Chateau La Tour Carnet, is one of the oldest chateau in the Medoc. It was owned by the most prestigious families of Aquitaine. It was also the residence of the famous French writer Michel de Montaigne during the 16th century, and was classified 4th GRAND CRU CLASSE in 1855. Since 2000, it is owned by Bernard Magrez, owner of 4 Grands Crus Classés in Bordeaux and more than 40 vineyards worldwide.
Chateau La Tour Carnet is a Wonderful location to explore the south bank vineyards. The chateau is luxurious and magnificent and the staff very hospitable. One note of caution, if the weather is very hot there is no AC in the bedrooms but lighter bed linen is easily available. Highly recommended.
