Been here a few times already, but today's visit was totally amazing. Had 'The Chihuahua' breakfast which consists of two slices of toast with smashed avo and two poached eggs.ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!Delicious and beautifully presented, these guys know how to keep patrons happy. We came here three times once for me and my husband and the other together with a business friend and again with friends. All within a space of two weeks. On first glance, although there was a roaring fire behind us, the place looked slightly cold. Creating ambience to liven up the place. Mind you, it was winter time. Beautiful views of the vineyards, even better outside but not the right time obviously.The dining room is very large and looked almost empty apart from another table. With quite a few staff hanging about, we felt as if they couldnât wait to take away our plates, but they didnât. They gave us space and we werenât rushed.Amazing wine with all three lunches. For ourselves, we had champagne to begin with. The three visits to Laborie gave us plenty of other menus to choose from.Lovely gift shop within the estate. Bought an apron, very reasonable. We have been to this restaurant many times, mostly for lunch or for wine tasting and have seen a few management changes. The menu is limited but the quality good. I had the Grilled Salmon Trout with seasoned vegetables and it was done to perfection. The price of wines are the cheapest Ive come across in any restaurant, of course it helps if the vineyards are directly behind and you produce your own. To finish off the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

I hadn't been to Backsberg for years, A massive improvement. Their wine was always good but their food, everyone enjoyed.A had the hake.... very good, but the rest of the family and friends had the lamb burgers.... this was a huge quantity of sliced lamb off a spit... comes with roast potatoes etc.The chenin blanc was ridiculously cheap, table price same as the cellar.It was a Friday. Not crowded. We went to Ridgebacks as we wanted to get out of the City. Upon our arrival we walked through the wine tasting area and arrived on the deck next to the dam. The ducks and swans was beautiful and they created an atmosphere of relaxation. We ordered a platter with cheese and jams and enjoyed the calm thoroughly. The staff was friendly and the food was very nice.
