On a celebratory weekend away for my parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary, my sisters and myself treated them to an afternoon tea. Sue the owner made us feel very welcome and took the time to chat to us and congratulate my parents. The food was delicious and we had plenty of tea and coffee, we purchased some Prosecco too.The building is amazing and has a very interesting history. A must place to visit if you are in Chester town centre.

Visited Planhigion Glyndwr for the first time today with my daughter and grandchildren. We all enjoyed delicious lunches in the busy cafe. The menu is extensive, the food nicely presented and tasty, and the service really good. The wet weather meant we could only take a brief look at the many wonderful plants on sale. A return visit is on the cards!

The Red Lion Pub at Penyffordd offers a tremendous atmosphere with a combination of local real ales and a superb a la Carte restaurant. This local pub is a great place for fine dining in Flintshire and is half way between Chester & Wrexham
Myself and Wyn my partner took his 84 year old mum for lunch to the RedLion in Penyfforrd. I had the roast lamb dinner. Wyn and his mum(who hasnât got huge appetite) had 9oz bacon chop, egg, mushroom, tomato and chips. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Very tasty. Staff very polite and attentive. Is the 3rd time Iâve been here. Shame itâs not closer to home. But well worth the drive. 5 stars all round.

The Glynne Arms is a 200 year old traditional coaching inn in the heart of Hawarden Village. Our philosophy is simple; to provide a warm, relaxed pub environment and excellent food in the restaurant. Our menu celebrates seasonality. We work closely with o
After noticing that there was a new menu with vegan burger online my friends and I decided to give it a try after being disappointed with the veg offering in years past. Upon arrival I asked what the vegan options were and was told anything with the black vegan symbol... So just humus then? A different member of staff later came over to say that although there were no vegan mains, the salads were more for vegans and I could have any of them without meat and cheese. The member of staff was friendly but being told to make something up using ingredients from other dishes made me feel pretty rubbish and not what Iâd expect when everywhere from Nandoâs to MacDonald manage to cater for vegans these days. My veggie friend asked for a goats cheese burger and they had also ran out of this. In the end I had some veg in a brioche bun Iâm pretty sure wasnât dairy free. They also have a fresh cream Eton mess labelled as vegan and no milk alternatives so itâs clear they arenât interested in catering for people on a plant based diet at all. Really disappointing. Meat eaters in the group said their food was fine/average.

An award-winning traditional 400 year old pub in the heart of Hawarden Village, serving real cask ales and homemade food. The Fox and Grapes has original wooden beams, wonky whitewashed walls, lots of nooks and snugs and after an extensive refurbishment i
We visit the Fox and Grapes several times a year as it's fairly local for us and is our favourite eatery close to home.Food is always good and the menu varied enough for everybody to find something to their taste, including us vegetarians! Staff are efficient and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Car park entrance is very narrow though, so we usually park in the public car park a moment's walk down the road at Tinkersdale.
