Had a blast Canoeing with the girls on our 2nd day Camping at Algonquin park this Spring 19’(May) the Canoe lake access point#5 and Portage store is located on hwy 60, it’s a great area to spend a whole day. The location had comfort stations(toilets and showers) a restaurant, and a boat ramp. we had lunch at the Portage store, mostly Burgers and fries on the menu. I gave it a 6.5 out of 10 on price and quality. The View from the restaurant made up for the food, I gave that a 9/10. It overlooked Canoe Lake, the docks and the ramp. Very nice Panorama with the tall pines at the back. Rental was quick and smooth, we were on the water in just a few minutes. Lots of options available; type of Canoe/kayak duration; maps; camping equipment etc. the lake is a great place to access and portage to the other sites not accessible by car and hwy 60. Lots of potential to catch a monster however we didn’t land any. Ended our half day of canoeing at the portage store for some souvenirs. Overall, a day at Canoe lake is must when you come to Algonquin Park.
