Polonyna Borzhava is one of the largest mountain ranges in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It stretches between the rivers Vicha, Borzhava and Rika in the Transcarpathian region. The landscapes here are very distinctive, being defined by their rhythmic structure and velvety terrain covered with grass and bilberry bushes. A one-day hike here is an easy and enjoyable walk. Borzhava has some of the most picturesques vistas in the Ukrainian Carpathians. This hike is of moderate complexity with the length of the route appr. 16 km. Sections of rocky terrain in combination with snow may increase the complexity of the path. Duration is appr. 15 hours. Small-group format ensures a personalized experience. Make sure your clothes and your hiking boots (trekking shoes) are comfortable for the hike. Trekking shoes are obligatory!
Inclusions: private tour, hotel pickup and drop-off, transportation by private vehicle, meals during the hike, guiding services, travel insurance, Snacks

Karpaty Travel are Taras, a grizzled mountaineer with a heart of gold and a good sense of humor, and Krystyna, a jovial young interpreter. We went on the tour: Mysteries of Skelevsky Bedesky: Lopata Mountain, and it was covered in snow even in April, and made for a great, technical ascent with gorgeous snowscapes. They organized a private tour for me during the pandemic, and to be fair to them and myself, it was much more expensive than their normal prices, which again, to be fair, are much lower than most tour companies. Couple things to note: 1: I think they understated the difficulty of the hikes a little, only because they are both in such good physical condition. 2: They were EXTREMELY flexible, and went far beyond the listed tour package to ensure I felt I was getting enough for my money. 3: They don't accept paymend by credit card, though this could change in the future. Otherwise I would happily go hiking with them every week, and recommend them to everyone.

Synevyr lake was formed as a result of a powerful shift caused by the earthquake, about ten thousand years ago. Giant gorge that emerged at the same time was filled with water of three mountain streams. In a transparent and crystal clear water of the lake today feel great, rare species of fish like trout, rainbow and brook trout. At the bottom of the lake Synevyr there is a hole that serves as a natural regulator of water and thus the lake is not out of the banks, even during major floods. Shypit Waterfall is one of the most gorgeous waterfalls to be found in the scenic Zakarpattia region. This 14-meter high waterfall got its name from the Ukrainian word “whisper”, because the sound of fast falling water, similar to a murmur, is heard far from the falls. Even being located in an isolated place, the waterfall has become a famed attraction that tourists from Europe and Asia tend to visit every year.
