Blue Whale Boat Operators are island-based boat owners & crews. Proceeds highly benefit the local community instead of being channeled to foreign bank accounts (sustainable tourism). All boats are fully licensed and crews are well trained in safety at sea, rescue swimming, and guiding snorkelers. Weak swimmers or non-swimmers are accompanied and safely introduced to the amazing underwater world. A variety of tours in traditional dhows or fiberglass motor boats are offered. You can join one of our daily tours to Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park or book individual cruises to various destinations and including a variety of activities (sailing, snorkeling, diving, fishing, transfers to Funzi-Tanga-Pemba-Zanzibar etc).

My boyfriend and I loved our visit to the Boardwalk! Really admire how the community has conserved this precious habitat and given the gift of a unique experience to visitors. The entrance/guide fee goes back into the community in the form of a fund that they can use for various projects and needs. This is a special activity that you'll feel good about doing. We were staying on Wasini so came here for a walk around sunset. The guide station was closed but a group of boys from the village who were playing nearby became our "stand-in guides". They were hilarious and so fun to walk with. Later we paid them each about 20 KSh for their time. The nearby village was safe and people were welcoming and helpful. Cool to walk through on the way to the boardwalk. The coral garden is mysterious and beautiful. So wild to be walking amongst fossilized reefs, something I had never done before. The mangroves were gorgeous - they're such an important ecosystem and happy to see them protected like this. The boardwalk itself was in pretty good condition with only a few damaged boards. Definitely recommend to anyone coming to Wasini!
