It is the transportation and commercial hub of the West Coast area and administrative centre of the Saldanha Bay Local Municipality. It is located 12 kilometres inland from the coast at Saldanha Bay on the Cape Columbine Peninsula 138km north of Cape Town.

We were very impressed with this well laid out museum in a modern newly constructed buildingand with the guided tour to see fossils of mostly extinct animals in situ in the ground. R100 for both is very good value. It's well worth 2-3 hours of your time.

I have seen the Weskus Mall being built and going through many upgrades to accommodate new shops. Since the initial mall top the present it has always been a wonderful shopping experience. The mall management regularly comes up with innovative events (movie nights etc). The mall is kept immaculate and I love shopping there.
