It is commonly viewed as the eastern anchor of the Greater Toronto Area and of the Golden Horseshoe. It is the largest municipality in the Regional Municipality of Durham. The name Oshawa originates from the Ojibwa term aazhaway, meaning "the crossing place" or just "(a)cross".

Went to Oshawa Escapes recently on my birthday & had so much fun! Escaped from the Privet Drive room with my team (5 people) without any hints. I've been to over 15 different escape venues, some good, some not great..but I'd definitely return to this one! Owner was very personable & fun to chat with as well, you can tell he puts a lot of creative effort into creating amazing rooms. Great job & we'll be back :)
