The Valle Crucis Community Park is a nonprofit organization. We depend on visitors like you: 80% of our operating budget comes from donations. The suggested donation is $2 per day. You can donate in the Welcome Center or in donation boxes located around the park. We offer a 1-mile paved path for walking, jogging, biking, or skating, as well as playground areas for children and lots of open space for sports, yard games, or a nap in the sunshine. The Watauga River runs the length of the park and offers incredible fly-fishing as well as a perfect place for little ones to get their feet wet. There are two large covered picnic shelters in the park, as well as several picnic tables. Shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis unless they have been reserved in advance. Reservations are required for parties of 15 or more. Leashed dogs are welcome.
This is one of our favorite places to go to walk our dogs. There is a leash law, so if you go with your pooch, please keep him or her on a leash. If you should forget your own poop bags, there are some stations throughout the park with some available for you to use if Fido has to go #2. There are restrooms for people, too. There is a nice playground for kids, and a flat mostly concreted path that makes a figure 8 in the park. Beside many of the trees you will see metal stands, and if you open them you will find information about that particular type of tree. People trout fish in the Watagua river (Fishing license required) and kids and adults wade in the river as well. There are also pavilions and BBQ grills to use.

An old-fashioned country store with many unique items for sale.
Never disappoints! The annex store or the General Store. On Sunday afternoon’s, after church or dinner, you get to hear the locals ‘pickin n singin’ On the back porch while you eat your Moon Pie and drink your RC cola from a glass bottle!! US Post Office (official) on site, in the store, right there across from the hardware section and soaps, knives or liniments!!! Talk about back in time! Worth a Saturday or Sunday drive to visit these original stores!!!! Penny candy too!!!

Damon was awesome! After he gave us the rundown (and delicious samples) of the jerky in the store, he also gave us recommendations for restaurants and shopping nearby. He also offers a military discount. Absolutely worth a visit.
