Whiteside Museum of Natural History

If you like paleontology, general dinosaurs, and amphibians/reptiles/synapsids of the Permian then this place is for you and a must-see. We were highly impressed with the museum exhibits, paleo lab and research program. A+ all they way around. Staff were very friendly and gave us a tour of the lab where a few people were working on Dimetredon fossils. They were renovating their Pleistocene/modern animals exhibit so we didn’t see that, need to go back!

Baylor County Museum

Located within walking distance of the Whiteside Museum of Natural History, the Seymour Sound Garden and the City Hall Cinema, the Baylor County Museum is a must see during your visit to Seymour. Exhibits display the history of Baylor County from prehistory through the mid-20th century.

4. Post Office Mural

Artist Tom Lea was contracted in April 1941 to paint a mural for the Seymour Post Office. The painting was designed to depict early life in Seymour and Baylor county when Comanche Indians were an integral part of life. The oil and canvas painting was completed for $950 and installed in 1942. Tom Lea and his wife Sarah Lea were declared, by proclamation of the Mayor of Seymour, to be honorary cit

This 26.5 acre park has fantastic playground equipment for all ages, a walk track with 3 options, doggie spots, disc golf,3 bridges crossing over Seymour Creek, park sheds with grills, and our GIGANTIC city pool. The Chamber of Commerce office is also located in the park as well as the Portwood Pavilion.

Our municipally course is a wide-open 9-hole with minimal hazards and medium-sized elevated greens that have undulations. There is a separate set of tees for ladies, and two sets of tees to allow for an 18-hole round. Club facilities include Pro Shop, Cart Rentals, Banquet Room, Swimming Pool, Pavillion, Shooting range, stocked Fishing tank, and concessions. 9 holes, Par 35, 2,820 yards.
