Because this brewery was close to where we were staying we decided to visit it. driving along on the packed dirt road we were wondering if the GPS had made a mistake. We made it to the farm and a small sign at the entrance of the driveway told us we were in the right spot. First thing we saw will driving up to the building were the hops on long posts. We parked the truck and a young man told us to go the the back of the building where the brewery is located. This is not your typical tourist attraction with all the fancy trimmings. This is a working farm and brewery. Both men are very knowledgeable about the beers/hops. The nice thing is also that they started growing their own hops and source local ingredients. We got to taste a few different beers, but there is a nice variety. We enjoyed it, and the very good rating is because of the knowledge and willingness to talk and explain. As far as we know there is no tours of the hop garden, it is basically just a tasting. They have been in operation for a bout 1/1/2 year so still a young company.

Family owned and operated maple sugar house. Products include maple syrup, cream, candy, sugar, and maple sugar covered almonds. Outstanding viewing platform over the evaporator, operating during March and April. Tours year 'round, with products available for purchase. Solar powered, wood fired. All natural.
Brand new facility just down the road from our house. Solar panels on roof and lovingly stacked wood in creative round stacks. The sugar house interior afforded plenty of room to look around and there was staff on hand to explain the very shiny apparatus creating the "sweet stuff".

Caramel is made Mon-Fri and you are welcome to walk over and see caramel being made through the viewing window, however please keep in mind our staff is not available to give tours. A reminder we NO LONGER make cheese or have animals at this location. You lucky thing! You have stumbled upon a rare and delicious treat. Crafted on our homestead in Brookfield, Vermont with fresh, local milk from our neighbors at Vermont Creamery, our award-winning goat's milk caramel sauces, based on the Mexican confection cajeta, are meticulously hand-stirred to velvety perfection. We are a family-run business that has spent the last eight years mastering the art of goat's milk caramel making, focusing on traditional cooking methods and using a small number of simple, all-natural ingredients. To your discerning taste buds we humbly submit this sweet, creamy, and delightfully complex caramel for your eating pleasure. Enjoy!
My husband, brother-in-law and I drove to the Fat Toad Farm on one of our scenic drives while visiting Vermont. The drive was absolutely breathtaking with the fall foliage at near peak. We love visiting farm stores when we travel and this one did not disappoint. The tour was not only interesting but also educational. Steve explained the milking process, the unique personalities lof the goats and even how they are named. We watched the employees making and bottling the amazing caramel (cajeta) and were able to taste any or all of the flavors that they produce. Since we are traveling by air, Judith took my order and is shipping it home for us. Very friendly owners, anxious to answer all of our questions and made us feel very welcome. This is a must do if you are in the Brookfield/Randolph area.

The Chandler is an intimate theatre housed in a 110 year old Vermont town music hall. Performances range from local high school productions to well-known touring musicians. The offerings are strong in several traditions of folk music and in classical chamber ensembles and soloists. There is a curated movie series with discussion led by Rick Winston, film historian and one of the founders of the Green Mountain Film Festival. The Chandler Center also includes an art gallery with new exhibits every month or so. The Gallery is open on weekends or by appointment. Space in the Chandler is used by community teachers of yoga, music, dance, and tai chi.

Free admissions for day visits and nicely maintained. We stopped by to checkout the .75 mile trail. Glad we had good footwear. Started out behind the fire tower on a nice slightly up and down trail. Trail marked but not overused by hikers. Had a nice quiet hike until we headed down. Knowing what goes down must go back up we were glad it was a cool 65 degrees out. A lot of steep sections that may present a problem for the little ones or the older ones. Wear shoes with good support and traction. No vistas, but nice hike in the fairly open pine forest.
