There are few places in the United States that have retained their link to the past as Coweta County and Newnan, Georgia have. From the settlement of the town in 1828 to the new millennium, Newnan has kept the heart of Coweta beating with a firm grasp on its rich and colorful history, while looking forward and embracing the future.
LOVED this charming, historic town. If you visit here, BE SURE to go by the old courthouse (now visitor center) and get a walking map of the historic homes (the several blocks of gorgeous Victorian homes are within walking distance of the courthouse). The gentleman in the visitor center was SO nice and helpful and welcoming to the town - EXACTLY what you would expect in the South (people are just nicer here!). The homes are gorgeous and privately owned and will take your breath away. It's a fun, free thing to do in this wonderful town of Newnan.

I am a frequent visitor to the park. Primarily I enjoy the nice picnic, camping, hiking and boat launch facilities. The newest state park in Georgia it has miles of hiking trails, mtn bike trails that are maintained thanks to an active Friends of the Bend volunteer organization. Tent platforms, RV hookups, nice restroom facilities are all available. Kayak rentals are offered through the park office. Soon to add cabins and a lodge. Birders and wild life viewers will enjoy the abundance of species to be found. Fishing access can be had at various points along the river or boats can be launched for fishing. When upper boat launch is improved this will provide easy access within the park for a 3-4 mile float. Really hope you will support CHBP.

A modern, 48,000 square foot structure nestled in a serene valley off Lower Fayetteville Road near the city of Newnan, Georgia, this “pearl of the community” contains an elegant lobby, diverse art gallery, lecture hall, all anchored by a 1000-seat state-of-the-art theater. Bringing the world through art and performance to our community.
Have enjoyed access to great events, plays, and concerts; as well as, HS chorus programs.
The venue is large enough to draw talent and enjoyable programs from within and without our community...yet small enough to navigate with ease for the older folk in the family as well as other individuals with limitations in walking.
Seating is comfortable, and the slope of the auditorium provides a good view of the stage for all.
The buildings are beautiful and well maintained. The Centre for Performing Arts (The Nixon Centre) has been a great addition to our community.

Took my seven-year-old grandson last week to toss a frisbee and spend a little time together. We had a wonderful time together. He enjoyed the swings and other playground equipment as well as just sitting in swinging bench seat and talking. That particular park was his choice.

I love visiting Oak Hill, especially the Confederate section. Newnan was a Confederate hospital town and also the site of the Battle of Brown's Mill, a decisive Confederate victory. There are brave Confederates from every Southern state buried there.

Historic restored gardens, very unique. Wonderful settings and views. I was pleasantly surprised. Lots and lots of steps but sloping ramps are everywhere and we were offered (but declined) the use of a golf cart for free. Plenty of places to sit and room for a genuine hike if you've a mind to. The only surviving cottage has been beautifully restored and was open when we were there. Lovely combination of period pieces artfully done.
