On the edge of the Navasota River, memories linger of camaraderie, laughter and a kinship across a peaceful setting. This site commemorates a place where Civil War veterans reunited from 1889 to 1946. Families camped under the giant bur oaks, enjoying speeches, concerts, dances, fellowship and food while remembering fallen comrades. Today, it remains a gathering place for living history events, family reunions, and group activities. The site features an 1893 dance pavilion, a Civil War-era cannon, and the Navasota River is nearby for fishing and paddling.
Beautiful well tended park on the Navasota River. The park has a wonderful history. There are numerous picnic tables, with lots of shade. Very clean restrooms. Playground equipment. The best activity is to walk the grounds and read the history of the different sites. Children and couples can enjoy these nostalgic scenarios. Plenty of parking. There is a large pavilion for family reunions or other gatherings. Some of us go there just to walk the paved shady roads for outdoor exercise. Many very large and various Oaks,Pecan and other native trees, gardens and flowering shrubs adorn the area.

A great camping spot with a nice lake in the middle of the park.
Great nature trails throughout and plenty of opportunities for amateur anglers to fish from the banks or a dock. RV sites are pretty close together so choose carefully. Bathrooms were kept spotless (cleaned 2x day) with plenty of hot water and pressure. The sunsets behind the lake are magnificent!
