Many people know of the Goebberts farms because of the awesome fall festivals in South Barrington and Hampshire, but this year, at the Hampshire location only, you can enjoy a drive-through light show. Perhaps you have seen the Holiday Light Show on TV and recall the festive decorations with lights synchronized to music where families are competing for a prize. Well, Goebberts is not in a competition, but they have brought an amazing attraction to the area. All kids love holiday lights and displays and, truth be told, so do some parents and grandparents. Some of us kids never grow up. It's fascinating to see the intricate displays and the color variations all moving to the beat of a musical track. On October 2nd, the Goebbert Farm in Hampshire, Illinois opened the Halloween Light Show. The show will run nightly through November, and then will be transformed into a Christmas Light show. Traditions begin with a first visit somewhere, that's why so many people return to Goebberts' Farms over the years. Generation after generation have enjoyed the farm for their summer annuals and perennials and nursery stock and fresh produce and the ever popular Fall Festival and now families can add another activity to their traditions. If you don't have any traditions for Halloween, this is a very good start. The cost is $20 per car. Drive through at a leisurely pace to truly appreciate this new attraction at the farm. I will suggest that you visit sooner than later. We visited on October 3rd. There was no line and our visit was on perfect weather day. As the word gets out, this place will get packed. My first experience at a drive-through light show was in Hershey PA for their annual Hershey Sweet Lights. That was the beginning of my fascination for these magnificent light displays The Hershey display was a BIG draw in the area and was mobbed night after night. I see the same thing happening here. Spread the word, Pack the kiddos in the car with their jammies on, might be a good idea to bring a few snacks, and take the drive to enjoy the magic of holiday light displays.
