Gullane (possibly from Scottish Gaelic Gualainn, meaning 'ridge') is a town on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth in East Lothian on the east coast of Scotland. There has been a church in the village since the ninth century. The ruins of the Old Church of St. Andrew built in the twelfth century can still be seen at the western entrance to the village; the church was abandoned after a series of sandstorms made it unusable, and Dirleton Parish Church took its place.

A beautiful clean wide stretch of coastline, wonderful at low tide. Loved by families, dog walkers, couples or even those just looking for a bit of solitude - big enough to accommodate all. Enjoy, breathe deep

Visited for lunch today on a terrible wet and windy day. Was part of the August eat out deal. Hand sanitizer as you entered, we were seated very promptly in a very well socially distanced bar. As it was the bar my dog was allowed. There was a contact tracing Paper to fill in for both of us Service was prompt, we were told what dishes were off the menu (it’s a very popular place). Food came quickly and we were each given refilled jars of both mayonnaise and tomato sauce (in mini jam pots )which I though was very good We each had the Wee burger (a wise choice when I saw the full size ones!!) and they were delicious, small bun with a fabulous, moist burger Inside. We both had Swiss cheese added which really made the burger. Chips were hot and crunchy As we were “out out” we had sticky toffee puddings (mine with ice cream and my friend had custard) and they were piping hot and totally scrummy As an addendum I visited the the ladies.....door open into the actual room so no need to touch. Automatic taps and the wonderful Dyson drier. Sanitiser as you exited. I do rate restaurants on their food but also their toilets! Was a great lunch out

One expects an Open venue to be good and I have never been disappointed, Every time I have played Muirfield I have enjoyed the challenge in new ways and my rating of the course increases. This time on a sunny autumn day with little wind the course was in tip top condition and I, my friends from USA and my wife had a memorable experience. At the time of writing, (Oct 18) extensive work upgrading aspects of the clubhouse was in progress, but from the time we were greeted at the entrance the Club had measures in place to ensure a good service to visitors. While not be able to present the full range of choices as in the past, the catering, was excellent and the staff looked after us immaculately. Albeit expensive, I do not hesitate to recommend golfers add Muirfield to their bucket list
