The picturesque village of Ein Kerem, nestled in a valley near Jerusalem's southwestern suburbs, contains some holy Christian sites pertaining to John the Baptist and Mary. It is also a venue for classical music concerts and has restaurants known for al fresco dining.

I'm Esther and we offer a unique peek into Jewish orthodox way of life by hosting a meal + lecture (all questions allowed) in our Jerusalem home. In English. All religions are welcomed.
Our small group of travelers from the U.S. had the unique opportunity last night to be hosted by Esther and her husband for an excellent dinner and discussion. Our knowledge of Jewish Orthodox was very limited and Esther was kind enough to prepare a traditional dinner. Both she and her husband kept the conversation very basic and we came away from the evening with a full stomach and enough information to expand our interest in their religion and way of life. We feel that our visit to Israel would not be complete without experiencing this wonderful evening. I highly recommend this opportunity.

The Church is very important to Christians who come from around the world to visit and pray here and relate to events that took place in the new Testament. The Churches are magnificent and the scenery is very beautiful. There are a number of Churches and Christian traditions and sites regarding the history of Ein Kerem which Christians consider to be a town in Judea which is mention in the New Testament. All can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the village and view of the mountains and Valley.

Old beautiful church.in which houses the grotto of the birth place of John the Baptist. In the garden enjoy the view and the many plaques. The church has a strong Byzantine and crusader influence. For Christians a must see site. As with many holy sites dress modest and repect the site.

This site is open to the public, in the center of the village a stream on top of which a Mosque was built many years ago. The Muslim residents of the town fled in Israel's war of independence, so the Mosque is not operational now and serves as a land mark. The water flows from a pier coming from under the building. The source of the water has gone bad and the water is not safe for drinking. Ein Kerem has a number of Churches and Christian traditions of events of the New Testament that took place here. It is a very beautiful place to visit and has religious significance for Christians.
