I collect and develop creations from stones and rocks, pebbles, ceramic shards and sea glass form all over the world. Creetown Gem Rock Museum is a lovely wee place to see many of the rocks and gems of Scotland in their best and beautiful presentations. ROCK ON Creetown !!!

Having passed the signpost many many times in the past I finally decided to see what this was. I had parked at the bottom of the hill not realising you can get the car up as far as Carin Holy I, but it is a narrow road and not much space at the top. It is however uphill and quite a pull and I would say felt like more than the half a mile stated! So walk or drive whatever but do go. I don't know what I was expecting but to be able to see these Neolithic burial sites was quite amazing, and right up close too, I've never been so close to ancient history it was humbling. Do visit whether you walk up or drive it has inspired me to find more ancient history around the area

We were pleasantly surprised to see this superb wee shop open and thriving ,the last time we were down was when 'The Cats Mustache ' was open and they closed at least 3 years ago .There is a good representation of local artists ,paintings pottery sculptures tapestry and jewelry. Friendly and knowledgeable staff . The shop also runs a charity shop in the same block also a cycle hire business which is ideal for touring the area

A History of Creetown and Kirkmabreck Parish with a very large photo display plus many artefacts and documents including baptism records etc. The Museum has a model of the Wicker Man plus stills and stories from the making of the movie, filmed in the area. There is a War room, Social history displays, film screenings and Local Nature exhibits.
I visited the museum with my young nephew whilst the schools were off and we spent some happy time inside this excellent museum and information centre. There is just so much to see and read inside, all painstakingly put together by locals and volunteers. The museum is organised into sections filled with real life testimonials, photos, letters, equipment and recordings - I personally was so interested in all of the old letters and photographs particularly in the WW2 section. Such a great space to visit, conveniently close to the A75 and the Gem Rock museum - it’s a total no-brainer to swing by and take a look. Recommended.
