My grandson an I took the red trail -- or so I thought. At some point it morphed into the green trail. We were a bit pressed for time, so we turned back. It was a quiet and leisurely stroll -- but a bit more challenging than we expected. The ground was saturated with water after a recent rainfall. Only occasional stretches of the trail were dry. To compensate for this, walkways made of wooden planks lie over the trail. The planks are two across -- it's almost like walking on a balance beam for considerable stretches. If you slip, you are like to land in thick, black muck. We know, because we did once. I don't know what you're supposed to do if you encounter anyone coming the other way -- battle it out like Robin Hood and Friar Tuck? The path, of course, is not a straight one, so the wooden boards head this way and that, forcing you to pay more attention to where you place your feet than to the surrounding landscape. But we still had a good time. It's a real benefit to have locations like this to walk in.
