Delectable dim sum, floating islands, and a one-of-a-kind skyline are just some of Hong Kong’s unique features. Get an eyeful of traditional Chinese architecture in Ngong Ping village, then take the tram to the tippity-top of Victoria Peak for unparalleled views. The rocks and gentle hills of Nan Lian Garden will bring you inner peace, as will a calming cup of tea in a Stanley café. Become one with everything at the Chi Lin Nunnery, a serene Buddhist complex.

We took the number 70 bus from the CBD (Exchange Square) across the island to Aberdeen. Sitting on the top deck we got excellent views of parts we had not visited and using the ordinary bus was cheap and simple and at our own pace. When we got to Aberdeen harbour we took a little local ferry across (using the octopus card) and walked along the harbour, a very interesting contrast and change of pace to the Hong Kong business district and Kowloon. The buses were frequent and easy to locate to get back to the CBD. Allow an hour each way for the bus and an hour or so at the harbour. The bus trip is part of the fun.

I had a great massage at the Central branch. My therapist was excellent and I left feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated
