This is a great day trip from Pasto. Easy to get there by collectivo from near park Bolivar (5000 COP), travel about 40 minutes through very pretty landscape. We got out of the bus by the turn to the village and walked the two kilometers to enjoy a slow arrival to the village. This is very pleasant stroll. The village itself is incredibly pictoresque and cute with lots of colors and wooden houses on stilts, completely different from everything we've seen in Colombia. You can take a boat to the island (50000COP per boat) and hike through a beautiful forest to a viewpoint (entrance fee 10000 COP). The boat will wait for you. It's also a great place to swim if you don't mind cold-ish water. In the town there are plenty of restaurants with set menus with a local trout - delicious (8000 - 12000 COP per meal). Really great day out! Plus the weather is usually better by the lake than in Pasto. Highly recommended!

Fully renewed in december, 2016, Museo del Oro Nariño shows magnificent objects from the past of the Andean cordillera and the pacific coast. Subjects as nature and how human societies relate with it, metallurgy and other crafts, geometric art, rituals and ceremonies, link past and present and provide insight on a vast region of southern Colombia and northern Ecuador.
