My wife, Golden Retriever, and I entered the back fields and greenhouses on a beautiful late August afternoon. Several items caught our attention. First, they had several large piles where they were doing mulching. They were obviously using heavy equipment to move and turn the tall piles. Such piles can achieve much higher temperatures than a home mulch pile and allow the mulching of a much wider selection of organic matter. Secondly, in one of their greenhouses, they were growing cherry tomatoes on a single strong cord, up to an estimated 8 feet. A worker there told me that I could use the same technique for growing cucumbers. I would consider trying this space-saving method of growing cherry tomatoes and cucumbers next year. Thirdly, they had a lot of instructional material about growing cover crops (winter rye, clover), which I would like to do this fall.

My wife and I visited the Colonial Theater for the first time after moving to Surry, NH, 32 months ago to see a Lion's Club fund raiser, the comical musical, "Mamma Mia". The program was first rate fun, and the inside of the theater was beautiful. I have never been in such a wonderfully decorated movie house.

Having moved to nearby Surry, New Hampshire, 13 months ago, my wife and I, our visiting son, his wife and our adult daughter have always enjoyed Central Square, which is a place of peaceful protest, and the nearby shops. Our personal favorites include: 1. the Prime Roost, where you can have a great cup of coffee; 2. Miller Brothers, who sell fine clothing for men; 3. a similar shop for women; 4. a consignment shop; 5. a chocolate shop; and 6. a Thai Restaurant. This area is a shady pleasant to walk. Several restaurants have outside seating. Don't miss it.

This place is completely hands on! You can supervise your child, but they are allowed to make a mess and have fun doing it. There is a school bus, log cabin, space ship, post office, dentist office, classroom, grocery store, farm, etc. I would have loved this when I was a kid!

After moving to the local area in June 2017 from Manassas, Virginia, my wife and I discovered this rail trail as a peaceful place for a nature walk with our visiting adult children or with our two, now one, Golden Retriever dogs, which we always have on leashes. We usually access the trail just off Rt 9 about a mile west of Home Depot. Check Google Maps for more details. We walk west for up to a mile along a trail that is in good condition.
