October 13, 2021 Tambra Mccollister

Crystal clear waters beckon from the south part of this tranquil Caribbean islet, a hundred miles south of Havana and known for its17 miles of stunning white sand beaches, mangrove forests and scuba diving to the black coral reef. The largest of the 300 keys and islets in Los Canarreos Archipelago, waters in the north are much cloudier. Cayo Largo also offers excellent deep sea fishing. Rent a jeep to explore the islet’s few roads and paths or trot across coral sand beaches on horseback.

Please stop by the Sanctuary during your visit to this beautiful island. A small donation will show you a very special program that is so important to the survival of Sea Turtles. If you are travelling to Cayo Largo please consider taking turtle food with you to donate!! Please email me at [email protected] and I can arrange to get you some free food to take to them if you are departing from Toronto. They are in great need!!

Sirena Beach

Reviewed By royc944 - Guelph, Canada

We went to this beach five times in our week at Sol Cayo Largo, once by ferry, once by ATV and three times on foot. It takes about two hours to walk it. This was the most popular of three beaches in the area. You can rent a lounger for 2 CUCs for the day and can get food and drinks brought to you by servers if you sit close to the beach bar. The beach is very beautiful with deep, white, fine-grained sand. The water is calm, even when there is a red flag at the resorts. If you are adventurous and don't mind a walk you can walk and hour loop from the dock to the beach, turning right and continue along the water to the point and back to the dock and you will have a good chance of seeing starfish and stingrays in the shallow water.

Stopped here at the recommendation of others on our way back from the other two beaches (Sirena and Paraiso). This was actually our favorite of the three!! We found the water/sand/scenery way nicer here and will definitely come back to enjoy it on a warmer day (it was cool the day we visited)! Highly recommend it to anyone in the area!
