Mount Beacon Park, located in the City of Beacon and Town of Fishkill, was created by Scenic Hudson. Its 234 acres were protected in 1995 and 1998, halting a proposed residential subdivision and preserving important remnants of the Mount Beacon Incline Railway. A kiosk at the park entry explains the mountain’s history, ecology and conservation. Scenic Hudson has worked tirelessly to protect the incline railway and its environs, which it owns. Thanks to their efforts, trails to the summit have been maintained and the surrounding natural beauty preserved; one trail leads up a stairway tracing a portion of the railway’s route. The Incline Society and Scenic Hudson share a goal of making this wonderful natural and historic area accessible to more people than ever before while continuing to preserve the mountain’s scenic beauty and critical wildlife habitat for future generations.

Located in a former Nabisco box-printing factory, Dia Beacon presents Dia’s collection of art from the 1960s to the present as well as special exhibitions and public programs.
Totally enjoyed Dia:Beacon art installation. Took the train from manhattan round trip.Rail runs very close to the Hudson, so worthy fall journey. Then station to Dia:Beacon by uber/easy. Vast spaces of this old factory held compelling, sometimes odd large scale sculptures in a variety of forms - glass, metal, paintings, rocks, neon etc. The 122 (?) Warhol abstract paintings - something to behold en masse. The natural light from huge skylights highlighted and then subdued the art as the day waned. Worth the journey

Took a walk to the dock and on the trail along the river. It was cloudy, so there was no sun visible for the sunrise. However, great company and the lack of wind made the morning by the river quite enjoyable. The beautifully designed dock stood out against the background of the drift wood and the trees lining up the river bank. It was very peaceful there with only few runers/walkers to greet on the path. We saw a beaver propelling himself along the shore and listened to the birds. Nice place to find some peace of mind.
