Call ahead to arrange a tour. Ours was about 2 hours, and the guide was fantastic. We didn't get into the rehab area, where birds are being nurtured back to health and freedom. We got to see the "ambassador" birds (plus one possum and one turtle) up (very) close. We got to meet and learn about several owls, some falcons, a bunch of eagles and some hawks. I even came to appreciate turkey vultures! This is very much worth your time -- and money. There is no fee for the tour, but we made a donation equal to what we'd expect to pay at a place like this. I encourage you, too, to donate. Oh. Check their Facebook page, too.

The Baldwin Hotel Museum is open during the summer months, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The building has changed very little since it opened in 1906. All four floors of the former hotel feature rooms filled with artifacts of Klamath history. Examples include a kitchen, laundry room, children's room, music, parlor, cafeteria, doctors's office, lawyer's office, school room and much more. There is no elevator, and so the building presents a number of barriers to people with impaired mobility.
We took the two hour tour and Melinda was our guide. She was a delight. So much knowledge and love of the place and all its wonderful stories. Every one of the four floors has a different feel and a different set of wonders. If you can do only one museum stop in Klamath, make this the one.
