Maybe you're not an Olympian, but if you're looking for a top-notch winter sports destination, Lake Placid is the place for you. Try bobsledding, downhill skiing, ice climbing, speed skating or even ski jumping, or just enjoy shopping in the town's boutiques and warming up in one of the many restaurants. But Lake Placid isn't just a winter wonderland. Beautiful Adirondack State Park, which is larger than Yosemite or Yellowstone National Parks, offers year-round outdoor activities.

I highly recommend Farmhouse Snowmobiling. I called a few days in advance to guarantee a reservation since it was a holiday weekend. Dick and Sean were very professional and extremely nice. Sean was our tour guide...he knew the trails very well and made the tour fun for riders of all different levels. If you are looking for a memorable and fun experience this is the place to go!

Nestled on Scott's Cobble Mountain in Lake Placid, NY. We offer a Zip Line tour consisting of 6 zip lines and an ATV ride up to the top of the mountain to start. With our lines totaling over 2000', how would you like to explore the forest like Tarzan did? Tours will last about 2 hours and we can accommodate up to 8 people at a time. Zip Line Tours run at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, & 4pm. We also offer Team Building Programs and Guided Services for all outdoor activities. Call us for more information!

Visitors to this year-round training and competition site can watch daring ski-divers, or take an elevator to a platform to see how high Olympic skiers jump.
We spent a little over an hour at the Olympic Ski Jump Complex. We took the gondola ride to the top of the mountain, which takes only a few minutes. From there you transition to a glass elevator ride to the top of the largest ski jump which provides scenic views of the surrounding mountains. The ski jumps are so much higher than they appear on television and show just how daring (or crazy) ski jumpers are. New respect for ski jumpers! The venue is clean, masks are required and there is a little shop for souvenirs.

Mt. Van Hoevenberg combines outdoor recreations with Lake Placid’s Olympic Legacy. On the sliding center side, we have a state-of-the-art combined skeleton & bobsled track and we have created North America’s longest mountain coaster, The Cliffside Coaster. On the Nordic center side, we have added 4km of World Championship rate trails, joining our existing 50km of cross country skiing trails. Our new lodge, The Mountain Pass Lodge, is the Hub of Mt. Van Hoevenberg, and is the place to go for a drink, hang out with friends, or just spending a full day enjoying all the activities Mt. Van Hoevenberg has to offer.
Drove 7hrs after work with my 2 girls just to ride this coaster!!!! Purchased our tickets online 2 weeks in advance and prayed the weather would cooperate. Tickets are pricey! ($55pp) BUT....here are the bonus points.... 1. Longest mountain coaster in the country! 2. Speakers in sleds give you the history of the bobsled run next to it! 3. You CANNOT crash into the sled in front of you due to high tech sensors! 4. Once you descend, you ARE an olympic bobsled driver! 5. The views are absolutely breathtaking! We went for lunch afterward and back to motel for a power nap before driving 7hrs back home. What a fun Day of the Dead treat! Great for any age!

While visiting the Adirondacks and Lake Placid be sure to include horseback riding for one of your most memorable of your vacation activities. Family run, we offer the gentlest horses in the area and unlike most stables we keep them through retirement. We also run a Horse Rescue, and most of our horses came from auctions and other, unfortunate circumstances. 1 hour, 2 hour, 1/2 Day trail rides with an additional instructional lesson prior to the ride to help you familiarize yourself with how the horses have been trained and answer any questions you may have. SEI certified helmets provided. Children and Family friendly. We are an easy drive from Saranac Lake, Keene, Wilmington, Plattsburgh, and Essex areas. Walking distance from Main Street in Lake Placid.
I write this aware of the mixed reviews of this business. I can only speak for my experience, so that is all I will mention in this review. A friend and I went on a half-day trail ride today, and we had a great experience. Our guide, Travis, was knowledgeable, professional, conversational, and cared about the horses and how we were doing throughout the ride. When we arrived, Travis met us at the gates to let us in. Ava, the friendly ranch dog, showed us up to the barn. The safety video we were shown before riding was instructive and helpful, especially to my friend, who had never ridden before. We were provided with helmets, Travis made sure we understood how to steer, stop, and tell the horses to go, and we set off without issues. The ride was very pleasant, and we had friendly conversation the whole way. Our horses, Dakota and Munchie, were well-behaved and reliable, and all three looked well cared-for. Ava followed us the entire way, her tail wagging. We ended with lunch (provided for us) and pictures at a scenic vista. A great experience overall.
