As a Sri Lankan I was looking forward to this meal. The food is the biggest problem- in parts not authentically Sri Lankan. They had run out of veg rolls since the day before. My kids were not impressed with the devilled chicken wings as they tasted like chinese sweet and sour and looked exactly that , with a thick lurid red colour sauce.The gova mallun (cabbage) didn't taste good.The clay pot tuna fish was overcooked. I glanced over into the kitchen later on and could see the chef taking a plastic bowl of heated curry out of I presume a microwave and emptying it into the clay pot !!The chicken curry on the bone was a lot of gravy and bones and hardly any chicken.The plain red rice wasn't even cooked fully. The treacle hopper was ok but the ice-cream had obviously been defrosted and frozen again and was unpleasantly gritty. The portions were small and quite expensive for reheated food which didn't taste good. I'm presume the owners of this chain have sacrificed the taste/freshness of the food in order to make money and that's a real shame. I think it will be hard for these restaurants to stand the test of time unless they rethink the model. I don't expect a response from the owners - I can see from previous reviews that when their food is criticised that there is generally no response but they are very willing to apologise for late drinks/wrong orders etc. I think you need to get the food right first. My advice, if you want authentic Sri Lankan food - try anywhere in London.

The food is very good, we had a nice meal. The interesting evening because the power went out several times on the entire block. It is when you see the staff in a situation like this that you can tell they are customer centric. They worked hard to keep everyone happy and engaged during what was a very stressful evening. We enjoyed the evening.

We had booked a table and would definitely recommend booking as the restaurant was very busy all evening. Staff recommended a number of dishes to order and were knowledgeable about the food on the menu, we found that they recommended way too much food and we ended up taking a lot home. Whilst the food was nice and some of the curry dishes were tasty, it was not very similar in many ways to Sri Lankan street food as it claims. In particular the Kottu was very disappointing. Also the rice was dry, bland and a relatively small portion given that it is often such a substantial part of a Sri Lankan meal. Overall it was a nice place to eat, something a bit different however if you are looking for authentic Sri Lankan street food this is not the place to go!Hi Danielle,Weâre sorry to hear that your experience with us wasnât anything other than 5 stars! We are a small group of Sri Lankan friends and family, blended with talent from Bristol and the UK. We are cooking our family recipes from back home (watched over by Granny Gerti, 82!). Our head chefs are all Sri Lankan born and owners of the business, so food is our anchor. We prepare and cook fresh daily. In terms of portion sizes - if it wasn't explained at the time, we serve our food in a small-plate style, similar to tapas. I'm sorry that the food wasn't up to scratch this time around!Overall it sounds like you had an enjoyable experience however which I am very glad to hear and I do hope we can welcome you back to TCT in the near future!

Delicious fresh food, friendly service and great price. Cool little kitchen/eating space too. Outside tables were full so we sat in. Took two daughters, one veggie, we had broccoli gyoza with dressed sushi rice and pork gyoza with Sabori noodles. Both delicious, pork was the best Iâve tasted and we like our Asian food. So good we ordered more broccoli gyoza and a sesame seaweed side (50p!). Great formula of a small menu that you can switch up to suit your taste, your hunger and your pocket.
