The Atlantic coast of New Jersey, with its beaches and boardwalks, stretches from Sandy Hook in the north to Cape May in the south. Fresh ocean breezes fan 127 miles of sandy beaches. Drive between cities or catch a NJ Transit bus or Atlantic City jitney bus. Atlantic City packs people in to nightlife venues and casinos. Wildwood's boardwalk is well-trod. Asbury Park is once again popular, particularly with gays and lesbians. Cape May's restaurants and Victorian inns lure tourists to the historic town.

Site of the oldest lighthouse in America.
This area, in my opinion, has some of the best beaches in America. Lots of history here too. Great place for bike riding along the miles of bike trails. It's a little more crowded this summer because the New York City beaches are closed so those who usually would stay closer to home are coming to Sandy Hook and other New Jersey beaches. I could tell you the least crowded beach on Sandy Hook, but if I did, it would just get crowded. I'm keeping this beach a secret.

On the northern tip of Long Beach Island, this park includes a maritime forest, lighthouse, and access to great birding and fishing sites.
My granddaughters loved our time there. I climbed to the top. I was so proud of them. The gift shop was a great place to learn about the lighthouse and buy some mementos of our trip.

Always a great visit, be sure to bring camera and binoculars. Covid safe walking. Three levels of easy walking trail thru to woods, marsh and lagoon beach areas. Very diverse- you will see many different birds as well as trees, plants, turtles. Red trail is .5 mile, Yellow 1.2, Blue 1.5. Very level and occasional seating. Well maintained with observation deck areas.

Beautiful area to hike, with many different trails to take: some shaded and some in the open sun. I especially love the trails that pass the stunning blue water. This is also a popular place for kayaking and for bringing dogs to play in the lake. Highly recommend as a day trip!

We went to this beach on a weekday to escape the crowds. It was beautiful, clean and not crowded at all. No swimming here, but we brought our chairs, ate lunch and walked down to the inlet. It was our first visit to this park and we will be back!!

As has been stated, it is a wonderful place, and close to a great beach location, Sea Isle City. Great beach, good food, good gift shops, plenty of parking.
