Being a librarian from another state I know the importance of supporting local stores and especially the book store. With everything being sold digitally or buying from those big companies supporting the disappearing book store is important. I always stop when I’m in town. This time carrying a gift card my sister in law gave me, I walked out with 2 books, but the choices were hard. My hubby called me twice to tell me to “hurry.” Duh, librarian in a book store! Friendly staff, some really good selections. I really enjoyed the local corner and the shelves used for local book clubs. Great idea! There’s even a coffee shop in the back or front depending on which way you enter.

Located at the front of the Bishop City Park in a small A-frame, the Bishop Visitor Center welcomes guests from all over the world. We will provide you with personal assistance and detailed information on unique regional attractions, lodging, events, and endless outdoor activities. We have a nice selection of local-themed books, maps, t-shirts, jewelry and souvenirs available. There is ample parking for RVs and large vehicles just beyond the first baseball field.
Joe at the Chamber of Commerce is an amazing resource! We had planned to backpack near Lake Sabrina but the Creek fire had erupted the day before and I needed information so we could make a decision about cancelling. I needed "eyes on the street" info and resources to help us decide. Joe had developed a tutorial that included valuable links to web cams all over the Sierra. It was exactly what I was looking for. He walked me through the whole thing and explained how I could use the information. He also gave me names of businesses to call that were close to the trailhead. Ultimately we decided to cancel our trip. It was the absolute right decision. The next day Joe emailed me an alert from the Forest Service saying they were temporarily closing Southern California National Forests including Inyo National Forest. They also listed restrictions on other areas. Joe saved us a 13 hour round trip drive and saved the day. What an amazing service especially during these crazy times. So thankful!

These are lovingly configured wooden houses consisting of Hotel, Saloon, Gift Shop, General Store, the last gas station before desert, historic Fire Truck and a Monument to commemorative of gold seekers in forty nine of 19th century before entrance into the desert. Maybe I haven't seen everything. Stovepipe Wells is unmissable during a trip through Death Valley and a real good reason for a stay for visiting the saloon or gift shop or to fulfill the gas tank before continuing the trip. You will find very friendly and competent stuff and unique interesting souvenirs, gifts. Also important is to have the opportunity to by drinks and foot, the next instance is quite several miles away and the desert is hot.
Come and explore and real and authentic country western store. The Toggery is the oldest store in Bishop and since 1922, this family-owned business has been outfitting customers both near and far. Whether you’re looking for a new part of jeans, a hat, or a great looking pair of boots, the Toggery is ready to help you with your style. We look forward to seeing you.
