Having been ordering fish and chips from Captains for many years now. Their food is always freshly cooked and tastes great. The serving sizes are very reasonable. Absolutely love their potato cakes and chips not greasy or oily just right and the colour a beautiful golden one. Although I love their fish which is freshly battered when ordered I do find that the batter does retain some oil, but the fish does taste great and it's a wonderful serving size, there's been many a time when I've shared as it's just too much. Their burgers taste wonderful and are also cooked on order. The staff at Captains are fantastic always helpful and courteous. If you're looking for some great fish and chips whilst in St Albans don't look past Captains Fish & Chips.

Okay, so...If I'm being honest, the food isn't anywhere near the best budget fish and chips I've ever eaten, but they deliver so that pretty much makes up for thatAlso, the fact that when I order a diet drink and they don't bring a non-diet drink instead and the fact that they start delivering just at lunch time puts them pretty high in my go-to take out

A Second Review of this place from me. Why. The food just gets better and better, The staff highly professional and Service outstanding. They always throw in that little bit extra.As a regular, its great to be remembered and a friendly hello even when they are flat out.I love popping back in and having a friendly chat and trying different things on the menu that i don't normally eat and they are always keen to hear feedback on the food.Great job guys and love all the improvements you have been making of late. Well done.

Visiting from the eastern suburbs we decided to buy some fish & chips here. Noticed the price of flake over $7 a piece for a small bit of fish. The flake didn't meet our expectations as it was dry and small tasted old. The rest of the meal wasn't much better. Just a horrible meal and rubbish we look for another spot over there next time, better fish and chips in eastern suburbs.

Cannot boast about this place anymore then i can right now!Cheap, fast food, healthy options, crispy batter, calamari 2 ways, chips with "secret seasoning", burgers that give the top 30 in melbourne a run for their money, fish wraps, light and crispy potato cakes, and the best yet...South Melbounre Market's very own Dim Sims!!!
