Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Lyme Regis. Lyme Regis /ˌlaɪmˈriːdʒɪs/ is a town in West Dorset, England, 25 miles (40 km) west of Dorchester and 25 miles (40 km) east of Exeter. It lies at Lyme Bay on the English Channel coast at the Dorset–Devon border. It is nicknamed "The Pearl of Dorset". It is noted for fossils found in cliffs and beaches that are part of the Heritage Coast—known commercially as the Jurassic Coast—a World Heritage Site. The harbour wall known as "The Cobb" appears in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, in the John Fowles novel The French Lieutenant's Woman, and in the 1981 film of the same name, which was partly shot in Lyme Regis. Its one-time mayor and MP was Admiral Sir George Somers, who founded the English colonial settlement of the Somers Isles, now known as Bermuda. Lyme Regis is twinned with St George's, Bermuda. In July 2015 Lyme Regis also became "tripled" with Jamestown, Virginia, as the Historic Atlantic Triangle of Lyme, St George's and Jamestown. The 2011 Census gave the parish and electoral ward a population of 3,671.

As a lot of the Beach side cafes were full, was getting hungry and looking desperately for reasonably priced alternatives, found somewhere to sit by beachside and got a quarterpounder for my husband, which he thoroughly enjoyed and he has got very fussy over food as having suffered bowel cancer, with over 8 months of Chemo, he has had to be very careful what and where he eats. I had a large hot dog, which was very tasty, the tea was pleasant as well, might not sound such a feat, but finding decent tea from a kiosk, or other takeaways is not that easy! However, rest assured their cuppas are pleasant tasting, no 'stewed' tea, or 'wishy-washy' tea, but a decent cuppa. Lads serving were very pleasant as well.

Although the weather was very windy we enjoyed the experience in Hix immensly. The restaurant overlooks the harbour and the sea was crashing over the Cobb whilst we had lunch. The ambience is wonderful, manager very helpful and waitress brilliant. This has the feel of a very classy place. The food was very good too; I had wonderful shellfish soup, with a good dose of brown crab meat the flavour was outstanding. It was presented in a reasonable quantity bowl with crunchy toast and permisan shavings which were almost like giant dandruff and some tasty garlic sauce. The only complaint, and I am making the point as everything else was such brilliant quality was the soup needed to be warmed than it was when it arrived. My partner had a mixed beets salad with blue cheese that she adored. For the main course we both had the fish pie which was large in quantity and tasty with large pieces of white fish and salmon. The quality of the ingredients and the care which they were put together shone through all the food we had. Yes we had a bottle of wine which was very expensive, and after coffee a couple of hours, when the wind had increased later we asked for the bill. It was no cheap and had 10% service charge added, not a common feature in this part of the world. Was the near £100 for the two worth it, yes for a real treat occasionally. We will return.

We came here on our way home from a weekend away. The Sunday lunch was possibly one of the best examples of a roast beef meal I have had in a restaurant. The beef was beautifully cooked and thinly sliced, the veg were all perfectly cooked and the roast spuds were, although I hate to have to admit it, nearly as good as mine! Added to all that was the excellent horseradish sauce which made my ears hurt - just the way I like it.Finally, the treacle tart we shared at the end of the meal was a wholly unnecessary delight. Highly recommended.

Could have been a lovely summer’s evening visiting a typical Italian restaurant.....this was not the case here.....food overpriced and inexperienced staff although they did try their best. We ordered a kir cocktail....too strong as far too much Kir....asked to do again. Main meal of pollo Milanese.....chicken well cooked but pasta and tomato sauce very bland with no flavour and a few lettuce leaves....which you would hardly call salad accompaniment to a main meal cost just under £16. They are plenty of other well priced good restaurants in Lyme Regis serving local produce.....this restaurant did not mention any local suppliers. Would definitely not visit again, as thought it was poor value for money, which is a shame as the last time we had a much better meal. As regards the staff, we were served by a very inexperienced waitress who tried her best, but believe management were not helpful in assisting her, leaving her to pour cocktails, when she had no idea. If this restaurant wants to stay open, they need to up their game, as you just can’t rely on just the summer tourist trade to survive.
