Things to do in Lufkin
This place is old and kind of run down but the only one in town. I went there 2 Fridays ago and ordered the family meal and did not get any hush puppies when I got home. That was ok because they were busy and maybe did not realize they weren't added. So for our Good Friday meal I went later and they weren't busy so I went thru the drive thru and ordered family meal with coleslaw(which we love with our fish) and rice as sides. When I got to window the server repeated my order and sides and when he gave me my order as I was setting it in my passenger seat he says "No need to check it-It is all there". Well that was a red flag but I was in a hurry and left without checking my order and get home and I have green beans and no coleslaw and rice is so bad I fed it to our dog as it was cold and clumpy!! What a waste of time and my money. I will not return and I would give this no stars if I could.
Went to the Taqueria which shared a parking lot with the Lufkin Inn. I had a chicken super nacho AND a beef super burrito. Way to much food but everything looked so good. The nachos were crispy...chicken was tender and lots of it and guacamole too to go with the tasty cheese. The burrito was big....covered in sauce with rice and salad. Washed it down with a Mexican coke. Lots of taste and hardly anything over $10 on the menu. Well worth it.
We ordered the oyster platter and a catfish special on this visit. The oyster platter had a good quantity of oysters and lots of fries. The catfish platter had 5-6 little pieces of catfish. If you are looking for a platter of catfish, unless they change this isnât worth the money.

My mouth was watering just thinking about my favorite shrimp scampi. I was not disappointed. We we're in the restaurant about 3 pm which I consider to be off hours. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything was perfect. I have never had a bad meal or bad service at this red lobster. I can't say the same thing for some other locations. I will definitely eat here again as soon as possible. Thanks for a great meal.

We found the Catfish King while looking for lunch off highway 69. The restaurant is clean and neat and appears quite popular with the local folks. They have an interesting menu of seafood, chicken, steaks, and sandwiches but as expected mostly catfish dishes. My wife opted for the seniors catfish dinner which she enjoyed and I had the po-boy sandwich which was very good but huge. They have a small but good salad bar. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Recommended.

My friend & I decided to have lunch here hoping to find good seafood with a taste of Louisiana. We found neither. The seafood was not fresh and not seasoned well. I had a shrimp platter and chose not to eat all of it as it was not tasty. My friend said his fish was the same. The atmosphere was nice and service was good but I will not return. I couldâve had better seafood at Captain Dâs or Popeyeâs.
